Rosie HW's Fall Capsule Consists of These 8 Easy Basics
If I could trade wardrobes with anyone—and I really do mean anyone—I would trade with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Before the minimalist aesthetic was as prevalent as it is now, she was paving the way, favoring forever pieces in place of the short-lifespan trends that often prove all too tempting to other stars being courted by big, flashy brands. I can scroll three years into her Instagram feed, and not a single thing will feel dated, which is proof that she has an eye for a hardworking staple. (Her closet is built on the likes of Totême, Bottega Veneta, and The Row.)
That’s not to say, however, that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley only ever wears well-known, high-end designers. Through her Instagram feed, I discovered brands I didn’t previously know. Marcéla London, for one, has become one of my favorites. She’s also a fan of Bec & Bridge, the Australian label I’ve bought a couple of my most-worn dresses from. She’s also known to find the chicest-looking pieces from Zara.
So, naturally, looking for inspiration for my upcoming autumn wardrobe, I headed straight to Huntington-Whiteley’s social media and began saving down my favorite looks. During this process, I quickly identified the key pieces that make up her autumn capsule wardrobe. Because I try to be a nice person, I’ve decided to share them with you below. Scroll on to see the fall trends and pieces Rosie Huntington-Whiteley relies on.
1. OVERSIZE BLAZERS
Style Notes: Huntington-Whiteley knows that embracing the oversized fashion trend can make your outfits look more expensive in the process. Take this blazer, for example. Had it been more tapered, it wouldn’t have had the same effortless aesthetic.

2. CARGO PANTS
Style Notes: Perhaps the most of-the-moment piece in her outfit rotation is a pair of cargo pants. Though it's integral to the Y2K aesthetic that’s currently sweeping TikTok, she ensures hers look glossy by honing in on a premium fabric in a muted colorway.

3. KNITTED DRESSES
Style Notes: Knitted dresses are a mainstay in many fall wardrobes, but Huntington-Whiteley embraced them before they became the staple they are today. She still wears hers every fall, which encourages me to do the same.

4. LAYERING VESTS
Style Notes: Everything she wears can be styled in a multitude of ways, and one item that certainly couldn’t be more true of is the racer vest. You’ll see her wear hers with everything from tailored trousers to straight-leg jeans, leather shorts to midi skirts, under shirts, and as a base layer for knitwear.

5. EASY MATCHING SETS
Style Notes: As a mom of two, Huntington-Whiteley has a knack for zeroing in on quick outfit solutions that look chic but take next to no thought to assemble. Cue her collection of matching sets. Right now, she seems to be especially into those of the plissé-pleat variety.

6. TAILORED COATS
Style Notes: When temperatures dip, she embraces the chill, seeing it as the perfect opportunity to dust off one of her many impressive tailored coats. Handily, some of the season’s best have already started to drop—I just know this & Other Stories beauty will sell out before October.

7. CHUNKY KNITWEAR
Style Notes: What would fall be without a cozy knit? Though Huntington-Whiteley has plenty at her disposal, I’ve noticed she always invests in knitwear in muted hues, ensuring they have maximum versatility.

8. WIDE-LEG TROUSERS
Style Notes: Although she does wear jeans, you’re more likely to see her sporting a pair of tailored trousers, including on her days off. This preference means she always looks polished, even when she pairs them with white trainers and a casual padded jacket.

Prior to Who What Wear UK, Maxine’s career began when, after completing her first-ever internship at Look magazine, she was offered a position on the brand's fashion desk. She accepted, leaving university a year early in the process. Her passion and natural talent for writing and styling meant she swiftly rose through the ranks to become the title's fashion news and commercial content editor, with a stint as InStyle.co.uk’s fashion and beauty writer along the way. She later served as Look’s acting Editor in Chief, overseeing both print and digital, before embarking on a successful freelance career, working with Grazia, The Pool, and Marie Claire amongst others.
Maxine is based remotely from her countryside home near Edinburgh where she spends her downtime renovating her house, walking her dogs, hosting friends and trying to master the art of making Old Fashioned cocktails.
