In the winter, the line between frumpy and chic is paper thin. It all really comes down to what coat you're wearing, with outerwear being arguably the most important buy of the year for people in cities that experience true winters. Typically, parkas, puffers, and other coat styles that are lined with thick down err more on the frumpy side (with a few exceptions, of course), with wool, more tailored alts landing on the other side of the fashion spectrum. And of all the wooly coats out there, the most elegant, sleek silhouette of all is the robe/wrap coat. Don't believe me? Maybe you will when you see Jennifer Lawrence's latest NYC-winter look

Over the holiday weekend, JLaw got bundled up to walk around the city in a black beanie, Stella McCartney oversize sunglasses, and a gorgeous black robe coat that should more than prove my point about the luxe outerwear option. With the coat, she wore a plaid scarf, black trousers, and her go-to pair of Adidas Sambas. But really, it doesn't matter what she wore with it. After all, the best quality of robe coats is their ability to make anything underneath them look expensive. Test this theory by shopping the robe coats below.
