Dior Just Signed Its First-Ever Black Ambassador
Rihanna just made fashion history (again): The pop star has inked a deal to become a Dior Girl, making her the first black woman ever to do so. She follows in the footsteps of a number of other celebrities who are Dior Girls, most recently Jennifer Lawrence, Marion Cotillard, and Natalie Portman.
WWD confirms that Rihanna will star in Dior's upcoming "Secret Garden" film and print campaign, both of which were shot this week at Versailles by Steven Klein.
While it's a bit shocking that it took until 2015 for a major fashion house like Dior to cast a black woman as a star in one of their campaigns, we're happy that they're now taking a more progressive approach. And we can't wait to see the film—Rihanna never ceases to amaze.
