Maybe it's just me, but seeing an item on everyone in my Instagram feed typically deters me from buying it a little—no matter how covetable the item in question may be. Such was the case with the Insta-famous Christy dress from It-girl brand Réalisation. Since its launch in 2015, this dress has been worn in solid and printed versions by everyone and their mom, literally. I'll admit it was love at first sight for me too, but seeing it blow up on social media so fast made me second-guess hitting that "Place Order" button.
Fast-forward many months, and after seeing its cool square neckline and flattering shape worn by so many dream girls, I finally succumbed to my desires and ordered the tiny dress for myself. Well, let me tell you: My only regret is that I waited so long to do so. There aren't enough words in the English language to convey how perfect the fit of this dress is—it's 100% worth the hype. It also currently comes in six colors and checks out under $200, just saying.
The same day it arrived, I wore the '90s-style dress with an oversize black denim jacket and ankle boots for date night. Then, the next evening, I swapped out my black denim jacket for a vintage blue one and my ankle boots with sneakers for dinner with friends. Fast-forward two days later, and I pulled a black sweater over it, slipped on some sandals, and headed to brunch. Moral of the story: It's quickly become the MVP of my wardrobe, and I have to actively decide to wear something else. In fact, I ended up ordering it in white as well to double the outfit options I have and (hopefully!) fool people into thinking I'm not wearing the same thing every day—not that there's anything wrong with that.
Let's be real. Cult items become cult items for a reason. Whether it be the perfectly fitted white tee, the hugs-in-all-the-right-places pair of jeans, or the give-you-legs-for-days heels, certain items end up in the closets of every fashion girl because they're that good.
