This Health Coach Shares Her Pregnancy-Approved Grocery Haul
Welcome to our series #CartedByT30, where experts, influencers, and anyone who just really knows how to nail down a grocery list show us exactly what goes in their carts. Tune in to our Instagram to see their weekly hauls from their favorite grocery store, farmers market, or online food retailer and to find out how much it really costs to eat healthily.
As a certified health coach, podcast host, and authority in the wellness space, Cameron Rogers’s approach to food, for herself and for her clients, is simple: Eat the things that make you feel good. This includes getting some healthier dietary staples, like fresh produce and whole grains, but also making room for ice cream (always ice cream). And now that she's in the third trimester of pregnancy, Rogers is leaning into her feel-good philosophy even more.
Keep scrolling to see the grocery essentials that Rogers shops for on a weekly basis.
My Food Philosophy
My food philosophy is living a label-less life when it comes to my "diet” and eating foods that make me feel good. This includes foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, animal proteins, and, of course, my favorite food, ice cream. I’ve found that letting go of labels and specific diets has allowed me to truly tap into the way I feel emotionally prior to, during, and after eating and has given me freedom in my decision-making.
Avocados
No matter what, we always have avocado on hand in our house. Whether smashing it on toast or a bagel, adding it to my morning green smoothie, or tossing it into a salad, I consume avocado at least once a day.
Berries
Especially during my pregnancy, I am craving all the fresh fruit I can get. For me, I love strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries to toss on top of my morning oatmeal or yogurt bowls.
Bell Peppers
I love all things crunchy, so bell peppers are my ideal vehicle for dips (guacamole, hummus, etc.) while also providing me with lots of vitamins and fiber.
Greens
I like to have greens (mainly in the form of kale or spinach) on hand to include in meals, like smoothies, pasta, salads, grain bowls, etc., whenever possible to get the added nutrients and vitamins.
Sweet Potatoes
I am a big potato fan and specifically love sweet potatoes in all forms. My favorite way to cook them is to turn them into sweet potato fries after tossing them with some avocado oil, salt, and pepper and cooking them in my air fryer.
Nuts
I’m a big snacker, and one of my favorite snacks is a few handfuls of trail mix, so we always have nuts like cashews, almonds, peanuts, pistachios, walnuts, and more on hand.
Rolled and Steel-Cut Oats
I make a big batch of oatmeal for the week almost every weekend, so I always make sure to have oats in my pantry. For me, it is the perfect filling, delicious, and easy breakfast to start my day.
Pasture-Raised Eggs
Pasture-raised eggs, such as those from Vital Farms, are always in our fridge. I love a good fried egg on avocado toast but also use them a ton to repurpose dinner leftovers. I know that may sound odd at first, but whenever we have leftover veggies, we saute them in a skillet, toss in some whisked eggs, add some cheese, and make a frittata for lunch. It's the perfect way to make sure you aren’t wasting any food!
Organic and Grass-Fed Meat
Ground beef, steaks, and chicken thighs: My freezer is always stocked with organic and grass-fed animal products that I order online from ButcherBox. Where my meat comes from is super important to me, and I find it has some of the best farming practices and best-tasting products.
