I've Avoided Plaid for Years, But Spring's Latest Offerings Are Making Me Reconsider

When it comes to personal style, I tend to err toward more minimalist and classic pieces. That said, now and then, I love to amp up my outfits and add a statement piece to my looks via a fun silhouette, accessory, or print. Case in point? This season, I'm all about fashion's fresh take on plaid. Plaid has been seeping onto the runways since last fall where we saw elegant takes on the countryside-chic print from designers such as Chloé and Schiaparelli.

In the spring 2025 collections, we saw a resurgence of checks, plaid, and gingham, albeit with a slightly softer look to them that were styled in fresh and interesting ways. At Tod’s, checks were playfully worn inside out as a full ensemble, ACNE Studios played with clashing check prints, and The Row showed us a minimalist-approved take on mixing prints.
