Every Fashion Editor Will Mourn the Departure of This Designer
If the news is true that Phoebe Philo, creative director of Céline, is leaving the French fashion house, then every fashion editor we know will be mourning the departure. According to the Business of Fashion, several sources have confirmed that interviews for the design team have been taking place, in a bid to replace the designer when she eventually leaves at the end of the year. However, a spokesperson for LVMH, which owns the brand, said that they "categorically deny any imminent departure of Phoebe Philo from Céline."
Philo started at the brand in 2008 and made it one of the most successful fashion houses in the world via her take on minimalist fashion. Not only did she create some of the most covetable It bags of the past 10 years, but she also made it chic to wear a more pared-back aesthetic. But it's not just her catwalk collections that have had an impact on our wardrobes—her classic uniform of a roll-neck, black trousers, and Adidas Stan Smith sneakers also influenced our style. While we wait to hear more on the news (we will, of course, keep you updated), keep scrolling to shop some of our favourite Céline bags right now—it will stop the flowing tears.
