7 Summer Trends Everyone Is Wearing in Paris Right Now
With street style back in full swing, I'm feeling inspired by the looks hitting the pavement at fashion weeks. While I always look to what the fashion set is wearing to attend runway shows throughout the season, none of the outfits hit quite like the ones at Haute Couture Week in Paris. Coming off of the recent summer shows, my screenshots are stocked with styling ideas that interpret many of the biggest trends in cool, directional-yet-wearable ways.
While there are plenty of noteworthy outfits, I'm especially interested in the trends that are emerging. Fashion insiders are embracing some of the major summer pieces—from wedges to pastels to Y2K accessories—and giving us an early look at how to wear the trends set to take over this fall. Here, see the seven coolest street style trends that are everywhere in Paris.
Wedges
It's the summer of throwback fashion, and wedges are just one of the pieces that are coming back into full focus. The '90s-inspired shoes are the shape to buy right now, and I predict that they will carry over long past this season.
Pastels
On the fall/winter 2022 runways, pastels were one of the surprising color trends that made a major mark in the collections. Expected for fall, soft shades are about to be big, and I'm already seeing them in the wardrobes of the fashion set in Paris.
Relaxed Jeans
Relaxed jeans aren't exactly new on the fashion-trend circuit, but they are only solidifying themselves as a mainstay in the fashion-insider wardrobe. Paired with a simple tee and a tailored tweed jacket, they are worthy of a Couture Week street style look.
Corsetry
Corsets are back and about to be bigger than ever thanks in large part to Fendi's F/W 22 collection that everyone was wearing in Paris. In particular, reimagined corsetry is taking center stage, so look for cool details like belts and interesting layering.
Maxi Skirts
Floor-sweeping hemlines are one of the most talked-about trends for fall, and they're already coming out on the street style scene. Maxi skirts are a go-to style that is perfect for summer but can easily transition to fall.
Y2K Accessories
Another huge throwback trend? Y2K accessories. The Balenciaga Cagole boots are especially noteworthy and have risen to It shoes of the season.
Chokers
Rounding out the Paris looks is another throwback trend: choker necklaces. Early adopters are starting to wear them now, but you should expect to see many more of them as we head into the upcoming season.
