Every Street Style Look From Paris Fashion Week I'll Be Replicating ASAP

Not to be that stereotypical editor that’s always rambling about French fashion, but the girlies get it. I know it’s so passé to ramble about the magic of visiting Paris or how French style has a grip on the zeitgeist, but I don’t care. I know for a fact that some of the best trends and outfit inspiration come from this fashion capital, and there’s no greater proof of that than Paris Fashion Week. Twice a year, we’re served up not only a bevy of new trends that French women will champion and the fashion set at large but we’re also given ample street style looks. And fall/winter 2022’s collection presentations were no exception.
Beyond Rihanna showing up to Dior in sheer lingerie slip, we saw some of the best street style looks to come out of Paris in a hot minute. It could be the fact we’ve not been able to travel as much, but we saw the fashion set bring it. They wore everything from feathers and fringe to opera gloves and tinted shades to suits and gowns. And while the clear consensus can be that dressing up is back, if you’re still wondering what the most noteworthy looks to come out of Paris fashion week was, you’ll want to keep reading.
Ahead, I’ve taken it upon myself to scour through hundreds of photos to round up the six trends that dominated the street style scene in Paris this season. These trends were beloved by the attendees and are shaping up to be big for the rest of the year.
1. More Platforms, Please
If you needed an excuse to adopt the platform heel trend finally, consider this your sign. While I’ll personally admit to always begging for higher heels, Paris Fashion Week’s street style scene didn’t come to play when it came to pulling out in those platforms. You saw everything from the it-shoes like Valentino Garavani Pumps to knee-high platform booties spotted on those cobblestone streets.

2. A Taste for Orange
There are so many noteworthy color trends, but none dominated the streets of Paris like tangerine. Whoever said orange wasn’t a great color had never seen how French women and the fashion set can take this hue from the formerly food-inspired to fashionable. If you find yourself afraid to incorporate this color into your wardrobe for the rest of the year, simply start small with accessories or single pieces and pair them with your favorite go-to’s.

3. So Many Sets
Sorry not sorry, but sets are still very much happening—just look at the street style seen at Paris Fashion Week. From tweed sets to knit sets to matching suit sets, there was no end in sight of powerful pairings. Frankly, we’re not mad about it. This trend is by far the easiest way to channel the French aesthetic without trying too hard.

4. Statement Leather Coats
Leather in all its forms has become a beloved staple among the fashion set for the past few seasons, but statement coats came into their own during PFW. While the idea of colorful leather trenches was a trend spotted on F/W 21 runways, in the streets, this trend expanded outside of the color wheel and into new territories (i.e., trenches in patent crocodile leather, two-tones, ultra-long lengths, and leather adorned with unique details).

5. Fringe Benefits
While the idea of fringe may have been something that seems to be far off, Paris Fashion Week showed us otherwise. Sure, fringe bubbled up in S/S 22 collections, but sometimes a trend never entirely takes off—that’s, however, not the case with fringe. From coats embellished with fringe (see the stunning yellow Bottega Veneta shearling coat) to dresses and skirts dripping with fringe, it seems that this trend is back and better than ever. But if you find yourself not quite ready to embrace the benefits of fringe, start small by opting for the style in a handbag or one single piece to test-drive the trend.

6. Return of the Belt
After a few seasons of loose-fitting clothing being the dominating shape on the runway and the streets, it was only a matter of time before we’d see the return of the belt. While there’s no telling if we’ll see the insane oversize belts of the late ’00s reemerge, what we can say is that normal belts bubbled back up at Paris fashion week. You saw thin belts styled over chunky puffers and leather coats to form a pinched-in waist, belts made to hold up those Miu Miu microskirts, and corset belts styled with oversize sweaters. Basically, belts have been given a much-needed makeover by the French fashion set, so it’s only a matter of time before this trend takes over everywhere else.
