Pantone Just Revealed the One Color You'll See Everywhere in 2018
It's that time of year again. Pantone, the experts we turn to for all color-related trends, has just announced its 2018 Color of the Year. But as the press release explains, the selection is more than an observation on color trends. Instead, it's a "reflection on a collective cultural moment," with this year's choice demonstrating "our shared desire for deeper understanding in an increasingly complex landscape, and our eagerness to experiment to reach that level." Any guesses yet?
Drumroll please… The 2018 Color of the Year is Ultra Violet, a deep, mysterious, purple hue that, as the press release states, "is an enigmatic … shade that evokes the inventive spirit and imaginative thinking that challenges the status quo. A spiritual, cosmic hue, Ultra Violet pushes the boundaries of what inspires us to look upward and outward to the future." Sounds like a cool choice, no?
Many S/S 18 collections, including Carolina Herrera, Calvin Klein, and Gucci all featured pieces of this enchanting shade. And we can guarantee you'll see this purple hue pop up on many more street style stars in the coming months. Now, stock up on some Ultra Violet pieces before everyone else!
