These Outfits From the 50-Plus Crowd Are My Favorite From the Whole Year

This was a big year for personal style. Instagram gave many of us a platform to not only express our own taste, but it also served as an opportunity to discover other individuals. Reflecting back on my favorite influencer looks from the year, I've realized that several of them have one thing in common: They're all on women who happen to be over 50. Call it a coincidence if you please, but I can't help but wonder if this crowd is on to something significant.
It goes without saying that fashion transcends age, and you can be stylish no matter how many years you've been on this earth. It seems to me, though, that the "older" crowd is unique in that they tend to celebrate individualism and feel confident in what they choose to wear. To illustrate my point, I rounded up the most interesting outfits on women over 50 from the year and threw in some shopping picks to help you re-create a similar bold mood in your own wardrobe for the New Year.
I'm a sucker for mixed prints, especially when they're head-to-toe.
I believe this is what shows up in the dictionary when you look up "a perfect pop of color."
'Twas the year of snake-print everything, including really great boots.
Sequins and the desert—two things I never realized went so harmoniously together until this year.
Proof that baggy jeans can, in fact, look quite chic.
Inspiration for how to tackle winter white this month.
From the ethereal pose to the elegant fabric, everything about this outfit is divine.
I don't think this needs any explanation for why it's a favorite outfit of the year.
This outfit combines all the things I love in life: bucket hats, monochrome outfits, and lots of pinks.
And now: over-50 women with ridiculously good style.
