The Best Dressed at the Oscars, As Voted By Our Editors

For celebrities, the Oscars is hard work. Hours spent prepping with hair and makeup artists, fitting after fitting with stylists, and that's all before they have to sit through the hours-long ceremony. For us, we get to kick back, wait for the images to scroll through, then pick out our favourites.

This year, it was hard to decide on just one favourite. The red carpet was full of so many incredibly gorgeous gowns (and even one from an Australian designer), and the best of all, we saw some variety.

"Brie Larson normally plays it so safe on the red carpet, but this velvet Oscar de la Renta gown is on another level. It has just the right amount of '80s vibes (AKA one of 2017's biggest trends), without feeling like a dress-up costume. Big win from me."

"Chirssy Teigen's white Zuhair Murad gown is the perfect red carpet number—it’s elegant-meets-party-meets-sexy. A combo that’s tricky to master, but Teigan has nailed it."

"A little bit classic, a little bit cool… The luxe black velvet mixed with the soft embellished fabric makes this dress my pick of the red carpet. Plus, I can't go past the soft makeup and simple single bangle."

"Red on the red carpet can go either way, but I think Kristin Cavallari absolutely owned it. I love the elegant and simple shape of the dress, the way it fits her perfectly, and the corset detail. Her pulled-back hair and diamond choker compliment her Old Hollywood vibe. Plus, I love the fact that she's wearing an Australian brand."

"I am obsessed with Roberts' Jessica Rabbit-inspired look. The red hair and monochrome gown is a match made in heaven."

"Simple but elegant. You can always count on Alicia to turn up looking effortlessly chic but I love how she's bringing back Old Hollywood glam."
