I'll Be Having a Very New York Summer—7 Outfits I Plan on Wearing

New Yorkers have some of the best summertime style around, and this season, their style has remained just as strong as ever. After spending months wearing leggings, sweatpants, and anything with an elastic waistband, these stylish NYC girls are encouraging us to get back into the groove of wearing anything but.

Ahead, I have rounded up some of my favorite NYC fashion people and pulled out a selection of seven outfits I've noticed more than one New Yorker wearing this season. From easy matching sets to white summer dresses, these women are setting the standard for summer style higher than ever, and to be honest, I can't thank them enough.

1. Matching Sets

Matching sets are the best way to make it look like you really tried with minimal effort. Even if your matching set is a sweatshirt-and-sweatpant combo, the look will read cohesive no matter what.

No matter where you are in NYC, you can't go one block without seeing someone wearing one of these denim midi or maxi skirts. The cropped top helps balance out the longer hem, and this look is so effortless.

3. White Dresses

White summer dresses are a timeless style that New York girls have proven are still just as valuable indoors as they are in a public setting.

If no one's going to see you, why not wear a cute bra and underwear around your house? Especially now as the temperatures are rising, this barely-there outfit idea really makes so much sense.

5. Roomy Skirts & Statement Tops

By now, anything constricting feels quite bothersome, but wearing sweatpants every day is less than ideal. So fashion people have been turning to breezy skirts as an alternative comfortable bottom, and they look so good.

6. Bra Tops & Blazers

Bra tops are great for wearing all on their own or, as seen above, to spice up a strong blazer look. If you've been nervous to try wearing a bra top as a real top, attempting it in the privacy of your own home is a great way to ease into the trend.

7. Button-Front Tops & Jeans

Nothing says laid-back yet stylish like a cute button-down shirt. Be it a breezy blouse or a cropped cardigan, these summertime tops are the perfect thing to throw on with jeans to create an easy last-minute outfit.
