8 Fall Trends NYC Girls Are Actually Wearing
Over the last few months, we've done a lot of guessing—albeit educated guessing—about what fashion people worldwide will be wearing this fall. We were pretty spot-on, but there are always trends (and even micro-trends) that only come out or blow up even more than expected once a season starts.
On that note, today we'll be looking at such trends through the lens of our favorite NYC girls who, quite frankly, get it right every time. They've mastered combining fashion and function better than any other style set around—and I'm not just saying that because I am one of them. From the top you'll want to throw on with all your jeans to the knits you need to know about to the simple suiting updates that will have you looking so of the moment, see the eight fall trends stylish New Yorkers are actually wearing right now and shop them along the way below.
Skirt Suits
The bigger the blazer and the smaller the skirt, the better.
Corset Tops
What's better than a trend that you can easily wear with your favorite jeans?
Edgy Loafers
Chunky lug soles and platforms are a plus.
Tailored Vests
Bonus points if it's with matching trousers but honestly, we're not mad either way.
Knit Vests
Whether you go designer or affordable, you need one of these vests in your fall wardrobe.
Unconventional Cutouts
It's how brands are updating our favorite basics this season.
Posh Sets
Olivia Rodrigo vibes, anyone?
Matching Knits
What's cozy and cute and makes getting dressed so much easier?
Next, I'm 5'2", and this is what I'm buying for fall.

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. Upon joining, she was a senior about to graduate from business school at USC. Fast-forward to 2025, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was just starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content and her Trust Me—Buy This newsletter. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to neutral, classic pieces but will always make an exception for something colorful or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a party is dressing up for one. On her downtime, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
