Anti-Trend, Elevated, and Essential: 30 Nordstrom Summer Staples I'm Shopping Now
If I had to choose one word to describe my summer aesthetic, it would be "elevated." This is the season I really lean into refined looks and keep my outfits relatively simple but put-together. Maybe it's the scorching temperatures, but I find myself wanting to put less energy into styling trends and instead rotate through a series of straightforward and classic looks. That's why I make it a point at the beginning of every summer to arm myself with a collection of quality basics to build my seasonal wardrobe around, as these are the pieces that do the heavy lifting. I always make sure my assortment of T-shirts, tanks, shorts, dresses, button-downs, etc., is updated to carry me through the summer.
With summer on the horizon, I started to take my annual inventory of seasonal staples and note the areas I need to fill in. Once I have that list, I always head straight to Nordstrom. I find the retailer's basics game to be top-notch, and most of my favorite brands are all available in one place. This season is no different, and I've curated quite the list of staples I'm currently eyeing to add to my closet. Below, I'm sharing my favorite elevated summer basics from Nordstrom—from cotton maxi skirts to tailored linen shorts to classic slide sandals—in case you're in the market as well.
Denim shorts, who? Tailored Bermudas are back yet again this summer.
With a low, walkable heel and modern square toe, these are truly "wear anywhere" sandals.
Mixed metals are genius because you never have to worry about clashing with your other jewelry.
Summer is almost here—have you secured your white dress yet?
I won't even look at a swimsuit anymore if it's not elegant.
Fashion people will skip denim shorts for airy skirts like this all summer.
More sophisticated than most sandals on the market right now.
The effortless piece I always look to throw on when the weather gets too hot.
Whoever said dressing for the office in hot weather was hard never saw these shorts.
