6 Anti-Denim Skirt Trends That Are Timeless, Elegant, and Beloved Everywhere
Though I love a classic denim skirt, there's something to be said for the vanguard of skirt trends that are as elegant as they are cool. Skirts always make a sophisticated statement, and my top six favorites are true classics for all occasions.
Silhouettes include A-line and pencil skirts, which are both aptly listed under timeless in the *fashion dictionary.* These opposing shapes are fashion-crowd favorites and maintain their supremacy, from the runways to our IG feeds. When it comes to fabrics, lace and sheer knitwear, satin, poplin, and leather reign supreme.
Ahead, shop the best of each category and prepare your wardrobe for years of sophisticated, non-denim skirting.
Slip Skirts
A slinky slip skirt comes with endless styling opportunities. Whether in an ageless neutral or a romantic print, this skirt will be your plus-one for years of work events, date nights, vacations, and then some.
A-Line Skirts
Heritage brands like Dior and Prada have a strong hold on the 2024 version of the A-line silhouette. Harkening back to Dior's A-line collection and famous Bar suit, the triangular shape is synonymous with grace and class.
Leather Skirts
A luxe leather skirt is a must-have in every wardrobe. Opting for one in black or brown will allow for peak longevity and ease of styling. Simply add a white tank or tee in the warmer months and a cashmere knit in the colder ones.
Sheer Skirts
Historically lending themselves to being an evening trend, sheer skirts have found new life following the recent Copenhagen runways. Paired subtly under an oversize blazer, sweater, or button-down shirt, these translucent bottoms feel coy and unexpected.
Pencil Skirts
A sharp pencil skirt is as timeless as it gets. Following the quiet luxury surge, column-style pencil skirts are being worn low-slung with menswear-inspired belts courtesy of brands like Miu Miu and Tibi.
Poplin Skirts
Poplin season is all-encompassing, so naturally, skirts make the cut. The lightweight fabric has most recently been teamed with a smocked waistband or pleated silhouette.
