Our Editor Just Found 4 Amazing Where-Did-You-Get-That Outfits at Next

As a fashion editor, I am used to having a lot of fun with clothes, but in winter even I get quite sensible with my wardrobe. I'll diligently pay attention to the weather forecast every morning and wear shoes that are more about function, than how many compliments they will get. Just because I want my clothes to be reliable sidekicks in November, doesn't mean that I plan on retreating into layers of thermals and will stop experimenting with new outfits. I do find, however, that when it gets cold I start leaning on classics and get quite snobby about quality and durability. If I'm buying a new jumper, boots or coats, I want them to last and, quite simply, do their jobs.
For this piece I was challenged with creating a winter capsule wardrobe from Next, and I assembled a rail of interchangeable basic pieces that will mix and match without too much thought. This is essential given how much I like to press snooze when it's dark outside. Hero pieces that I discovered at Next include a pair of wine-coloured knee-high boots that truly defy their price tag and a checked coat that everyone in the office fawned over when I put it on. I created four simple winter outfits that will see my through the next two months of work meetings, Christmas parties and Sunday roasts. Keep scrolling to see (and shop) the where-did-you-get-that outfits I found in Next.
Outfit 1: Checked Midi + Ankle Boots
Style Notes: This is one of my favourite work outfits for winter, as it's cosy and relaxed but also looks put together enough for a work meeting or smart dinner. Slouch boots have been making a comeback, and these camel ankle boots are the perfect accompaniment to this traditional checked midi skirt. The longer length makes it feel like a more 'fashion' silhouette—very autumn winter 2019.
Outfit 2: Checked Coat + Knee-High Boots:
Style Notes: This outfit was my favourite of all three, and I can't decide which I love more the merlot-hued knee-high boots or the checked belted coat. At £65, these boots are a total no-brainer in my opinion.
Outfit 3: Black Trouser Suit + Pearl Bag
Style Notes: I am a big fan of a trouser suit, and it's become one of my favourite things to wear for fancy dinners or parties. I was really impressed by the fit of this trouser suit, as it feels (and looks) really expensive. A simple all-black outfit lends itself to playful accessories, and so I couldn't resist this £39 pearl mini bag.
Outfit 4: Blue Coat + Matching Jumper
Style Notes: I am a big fan of wearing colour in winter (the weather is grey enough as it is, without subjecting yourself to nothing but beige and black hues), and so I was immediately drawn to this matching jumper and coat set. These slouch trousers will also be a hero workwear item in summer too, when paired with chunky sandals and a white T-shirt.
