I'm Wearing These Trends 6 Months Early

When it comes to the runway shows during fashion month, I always walk away feeling inspired and ready to add some new trends and pieces to my wardrobe. New York Fashion Week this season was no exception. Though I didn’t attend IRL, I kept a focused eye on Instagram and Vogue.com to see what would unfold from the established designers and new talent alike. My phone is now cluttered with screenshots and notes about everything new in the world of fashion that I’m ready to embrace.

The problem with all of this, though, is that I’m ready to start wearing some of my favorite new fashion trends now—and I don’t want to wait around for six months for them to arrive in-store. See-now, buy-now collections are still in the minority, so I typically end up interpreting the fashion week trends in my own way.

Ahead, I’ve carved out some of my favorite trends from New York Fashion Week and paired them with shopping pieces to wear now to tap into them. Ready to join me?

Crochet

Crochet was spotted on runways everywhere from Rodarte to Maryam Nassir Zadeh—but I don’t want to wait around until next spring to start wearing it.

All Things Yellow

One of the biggest colors to emerge at NYFW? Yellow in everything from bright sunny hues to a brilliant shade of marigold.

Headscarves

Headwear is one of the major trends for fall 2018 in the way of face masks and balaclavas. For spring 2019, though, these headscarves seem more approachable, and I’ll be trying them out for myself. I especially loved these from Tom Ford.

Hats With Neckties

Yes, another headwear trend. This time, it’s wide-brim hats with neckties as seen at Jonathan Cohen and on the runway at Brock Collection.

Embellished Mules

Speaking of Brock Collection, the brand did a fantastic shoe collaboration with Tabitha Simmons that I’m highly anticipating shopping. In the meantime, I’ll be wearing similar embellished mules.

Puffy Sleeves

Puffy sleeves have been a big trend for a minute but only seem to be gaining momentum. For spring, they’re as much Victorian as they are ’80s.
