The 5 Things a Shopping Expert Is Packing for Every Fashion Week

Meet Lisa Aiken, fashion and buying director of Moda Operandi and one of our personal style icons here at Who What Wear. Lisa is championed within the industry for setting trends and spotting new designers like no one's business. No, really—if there's a cool new brand or rising trend, she's not only already wearing it but has edited it into Moda Operandi's shopping selection for all to enjoy. Since we're always looking to Lisa for our every next shopping move, we're thrilled she's agreed to come to join us as a columnist, serving the latest and greatest when it comes to trends, style, and shopping. Today, it is with great honor and excitement that we welcome her as she discusses the trending items she is packing for the fashion month ahead.

The dawn of another fashion month is upon us. As I look forward to the month ahead, I am starting to plan my wardrobe. As an admittedly meticulous packer (and outfit planner), I am sharing a few of my hero pieces that will carry me through the weeks to come.

With every fashion month comes a new crop of must-have handbags that we will see everywhere on the streets. I will be packing the three new cult favorites (as well as my Cloud from Bottega Veneta).

I’m packing all of them. They’re the only shoes I’ll be wearing.

You start fashion month in the balmiest of temperatures, but by the time you get to Paris, it starts to get a bit chilly, and your trench will see you through everything.

You often find yourself going straight from shows into the evening—last year my savior was a Ganni leopard slip dress. All it required was my hair tied up and a blazer and I felt like I had a whole new outfit on. The slip dress is the one thing that should always go in your suitcase. You can wear it layered up for a day with a cool pair of boots, but it works equally as well if you have to go to something at night. Plus, it takes up zero space when traveling, which is important when you’re away for three weeks.

Slick and cool, leather is my power dressing. When I put some on, it just feels chic.
