5 New Year's Eve Outfits to Try, According to a Celeb Stylist
There are so many things one can do to ring in the New Year—whether you're watching the ball drop in the comfort of your home or going out on the town to celebrate with your besties. Unsurprisingly, each different NYE scenario calls for a slightly different wardrobe. To help you find the most stylish look for every gathering, we decided to tap celebrity stylist Britt Theodora for her go-to formulas when piecing together a New Year's Eve look for five different occasions.
Her top style tip when creating the perfect New Year's Eve look? "My goal for the New Year is to stick to my uniform but elevate statement pieces, and this can totally be translated for a perfect NYE look," she says. "Don't be afraid to wear the big oversize earrings because you can always pair it down with your favorite leather jacket or LBD."
It's likely you'll be doing some shopping ahead of New Year's Eve, so we were also curious about the one piece Theodora definitely thinks is worth investing in. "The Perfect Pump in Gunmetal Lame [from Sarah Flint]," she notes. "It adds the right amount of sparkle, and they are SO comfortable so you can dance and mingle all night."
Ahead, see five different NYE occasions, plus the best looks to wear for each, according to Theodora; then shop her NYE picks.
For a Candlelit Dinner
If you're staying home for a candlelit dinner on New Year's Eve, wear something that's equally comfy. Theodora's "perfect" ensemble for a cozy NYE meal? "A turtleneck bodysuit, a metallic skirt, and a leather jacket," she says. "I love this Veda leather jacket because it adds a little masculinity to this pretty feminine outfit. It fits a little boxy-er while the bodysuit and skirt are slim-fitting."
This look is perfect for a cozy candlelit dinner with your friends or loved ones.

Night in With Your BFFs (Champagne and Chinese Included)
What better way to ring in the New Year than with your best friends and some yummy Chinese food? For this NYE occasion, Theodora says to go for something warm and comfortable. "This is my ideal kind of night, wearing a cozy knit and favorite distressed denim," she says. "I added my favorite socks to wear at home and a fun earring to feel NYE festive!"
Two words: oversize knit.

Stylist tip: "I always go up two sizes in Re/Done to get that 'boyfriend' look," says Theodra.
Big Night Out
"For a big night out, I love wearing a fun metallic dress on NYE," Theodora says. "Sometimes a sequin dress is hard to dance in, so I love this one from Redemption, which can be found on FWRD."
Shine bright, shine far.

LBD Night Out
A little black dress is the ultimate party uniform. As Theodora notes, "Everyone has one, and when you’re feeling like having fun with accessories for NYE, this is the perfect option!" "This bag comes with a long strap which is perfect for looping around your wrist a few times to make a colorful bracelet," Theodora says.
"I am obsessed with these shoes; they are so versatile because they can go either gold or silver and have arch support, so get this… you can actually walk and dance the night away!!"
Fancy New Year's Eve
"I love velvet for NYE. It not only looks super sexy and luxurious but it’s comfortable, too."
