Out of All the Great Basics Out There, These 37 Top My List
If there is one thing my friends always ask me about, it's what basics to add to their wardrobes. I've encouraged many of them to put down the super-trendy pieces and start focusing on a capsule wardrobe with versatile pieces they can style in multiple ways that will actually last.
Since winter is knocking at our doors, I'm revisiting the cold-weather pieces I've saved from last season. This got me thinking: What better time to do a deep dive into my favorite retailers and find the best basics to add to our wardrobes this fall?
The basics that came to mind are knee-high boots, knit dresses, jeans, ballet flats, ankle boots, outerwear, and, of course, a few classic accessories you can top off any outfit with. After hours on Nordstrom, Reformation, Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-a-Porter, and H&M, I found 37 chic basics that are guaranteed to elevate your fall looks. I found everything I was on the hunt for, from perfect fall dresses to boots that are legit compliment magnets to skirts to style with chic knits.
Keep scrolling to see the 37 basics I'm loving right now.
I wear dresses more often than not, so when fall comes around, I always add to my rib-knit-dress collection. This red midi one has my heart.
I just got these, and I know I'm going to wear them all the time.
Now I know the price tag on this one is steep, but I'd wear it all the time, and it's so gorgeous.
These pants are a fan favorite for a reason. They also come in so many different colorways.
There's something about a good black dress that I just love. This one has date night written all over it.
