Rosie HW Has Confirmed This Trend Is Going to Be Huge in 2020
Although we're still very much in the depths of winter, we're already starting to see the beginnings of S/S 20 trends trickle through, be it on social media or new-in sections. And while some trends still feel a long, long way off—thong sandals and Bermuda shorts, to name a couple—there's one specific 2020 look that you can start wearing, well, now—as long as you're indoors. Décolletage-exposing necklines are back in a big way.
To quote the buyers at Moda Operandi, "The spring/summer 2020 season showcased seductive sweetheart and off-the-shoulder necklines. This revealing silhouette is set to be a surefire hit next season: nearly a quarter of Miu Miu sales came from shoulder-grazing cardigans, shrobed down to reveal the décolletage just-so."
This side of spring, it seems the trend is already gaining momentum. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was quick to invest in Khaite's cult Maddy top (above), which has since become harder to get a hold of than a half-price Hermès Birkin bag. Handily, there are plenty of necklines, be they square, sweetheart, off-the-shoulder or simply styled as such, that you can still shop now—along with the last few lingering Maddy tops.
Keep scrolling to see just how prolific the neckline trend was on the 2020 runways and then proceed to shop our edit of the best pieces that channel the trend.
Khaite creates a sweetheart silhouette by layering a pulled-apart T-shirt underneath a strapless dress.

Jacquemus demonstrates the coolest way to wear a cardigan in 2020.
The little black dress has never felt fresher, thanks to Bottega Veneta's addition of a square neckline.
Khaite's high/low styling of its sweetheart-neckline top and denim longline shorts is inspired.
