Dedicated fashion followers and industry insiders suffer from the same predicament—they never truly live in the moment. We share this plight. Instead, we're constantly looking ahead to the new collections to see what the runways predict we'll be wearing in a few months time. As such, excitement starts to build, and right now (at a time when we should be investing in wool coats and knee-high boots), we find ourselves contemplating our first purchases of spring/summer 2020. So you can imagine how our excitement when we realised Mytheresa's already ahead of the sartorial curve and is offering up so amazing new season buys.

At Mytheresa's buying helm is Tiffany Hsu—a trend trailblazer in her own right and an Instagram sensation. As Mytheresa's Fashion Buying Director, she's got her finger firmly on the fashion pulse from all angles. That being said, if there's anyone who knows what's in for 2020, it's Tiffany.

As such, we set about finding out what she is forecasting style-wise for 2020. Turns out that amongst all the trends we spotted on the catwalk, there are five she's truly backing. From the freshest take on the '90s to the new hue set to dominate our wardrobes, let Tiffany and Mytheresa school you on the key buys for 2020.

First, let's take a look at how Tiffany Hsu is channelling some of spring/summer 2020's trends early…

'90S MINIMALISM

The '90s are just as evident as they were last season, as Tiffany demonstrates in her parka-and–stomping-boots combination.

"Suiting, sheer fabrics and clean silhouettes; these '90s-inspired styles will be prevalent on-site from now through January and well into the summer," advises Tiffany. "Bottega Veneta, The Row and Jil Sander have so many styles to choose from—perhaps start with this ready-made outfit."

NEON

Neon always divides the fashion ether, but Tiffany's sharp-suited look has made us firm fans of the trend.

"From cocktail dresses to accessories, bold neon colours will reappear for daywear and after-dark outfits. Designers such as Valentino, Wandler and Loewe have neon styles incoming, but you can already shop the trend via Balenciaga, Saint Laurent and Acne Studios."

BERMUDA SHORTS

Tiffany is living proof that Bermuda shorts can be the height of sophistication if done correctly.

"A key highlight of the 2020 season has to be Bermuda shorts. While they look great paired with blazers for a transitional suiting silhouette, Bermuda shorts should also be worn with tank tops and wrap tops come the summer months."

ORANGE

Tiffany wears shades of delicate peach—a subtle nod to another major trend of 2020.

"From vivid orange to softer pastel tones, orange is the key hue of the season. Plenty of interpretations of it will be available from designers such as Bottega Veneta, Valentino and Rejina Pyo, though I'm also taken with Mansur Gavriel's boots."
