Moda Operandi Launched a Luxury Beauty Edit, and It's Everything We Dreamed Of
Moda Operandi is a very well-known and well-shopped fashion destination, but as of today, it's also a luxury beauty destination. Yes, that's right. The brand unveiled its beauty section—a thoughtful and precise curation of high-end skincare, makeup, and hair products. While adding new pieces from The Row, Staud, and any other cool-girl brand to your cart, you can also add products from equally-as-sought-after beauty brands such as Ami Cole, Vintner's Daughter, Augustinus Bader, Crown Affair, and more. It's a beauty lover's luxury dream.
As exciting as this announcement is, it wasn't a surprising one. In fact, this venture was highly anticipated ever since it was announced that Jessica Matlin, podcast host and former beauty editor, was helming it. In a statement on the company's website, Matlin shares the ethos behind Moda Operandi's expansion into beauty. "Everything you will see is chosen deliberately because it is the best in its category (read: it works!) or has something uniquely inspiring to offer," she writes. "You won't find something simply because it is 'new'—newness for the sake of newness is one of my pet peeves. Our edit includes the established and emerging brands we believe deserve a place in your beauty wardrobe."
Ahead, see a selection of our favorite products from Moda Operandi's new beauty section. Whether you're looking to revamp your current routine or you're curious about the internet's most hyped products, this is the beauty destination for you. Let's get shopping.
This product was created by renowned facialist Iván Pol, and it's something of an anomaly. It's not a serum, oil, or moisturizer. Rather, it's a product that provides the skin with essential fatty acids, ceramides, and phytocholesterols. Translation? It repairs and protects the skin, giving it what it needs to function optimally. "Sandwich" it between your serum and moisturizer for best results.
The cool thing about this hair mask is that it works on all types of hair. With tsubaki-seed oil and yuzu-fruit extract, it hydrates, strengthens, and smooths hair without weighing it down. And yes, we're talking about even bleached and heat-damaged hair.
With multiple finishes and four stunning shades of gold and caramel, this eye shadow palette can help you create endless looks.
This luxurious two-in-one eye and lip cream is formulated with Persian acacia extract, yeast and soy proteins, and fermented pomegranate extract. Together, these ingredients (and more) work to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lighten the appearance of dark circles, and minimize puffiness. The miniature rolling massage tool is just a bonus.
While The Cream ($290) and The Rich Cream ($290) are the brand's most iconic products, this little-known body oil is more of a sleeper hit—albeit one that deserves more recognition. With a complex of amino acids, vitamins, and fruit oils, it restores moisture, elasticity, and softness to the skin.
It wouldn't be a luxury beauty edit without La Mer, right? This iconic face cream promises to do everything from lifting and firming the skin to healing dryness and boosting elasticity.
Overly abrasive body scrubs are out. Gentle and skin-smoothing body scrubs are in. This one from African Botanics contains exfoliating acids as well as super-fine black coffee beans, volcanic pumice, and crushed marula-nutshell powder. Together, they offer both chemical and physical exfoliation. There's also niacinamide and vitamin C for collagen support and antioxidant benefits.
Developed by French makeup artist @violette_fr, this marbled blush stick is designed to melt into the skin for a natural-looking, lit-from-within flush. The attached brush helps you blend on the go.
Kismet Olfactive makes niche, small-batch fragrances, so every bottle feels particularly special. This scent is composed of intoxicating notes like coconut milk, tuberose (a personal favorite), violet leaves, vetiver, musk, and sandalwood.
This brand, founded by cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson, is incredibly underrated. This cleanser is a personal favorite. It's one of those rare cleansers that effectively cleans the skin—removing dirt, sweat, and sunscreen—without stripping it. It's a microbiome-friendly formula, and my calm, clear, and clean skin can attest to that.
This liquid liner features a Japanese calligraphy-inspired brush and a smooth, inky formula that won't drag across the skin. It's also refillable, which we love to see.
This shampoo not only looks sleek and modern while sitting in the shower, but it also seals the hair cuticle, meaning it can improve rough texture and split ends over time.
Bring a little luxury to your bathroom counter in the form of this hand wash, which combines notes of cedar and sandalwood with light citrus. It's also organic, vegan, and 100% biodegradable as well as gluten-, soy-, and GMO-free.
Described as "leafy, vibrant, and green," this fragrance was inspired by California's long history with cannabis cultivation. With notes of bitter grapefruit, cannabis accord, and moss, it channels 1960s California in the best way.
Each plush pad is soaked in an exfoliating solution made from botanical fruit acids. Gently wipe one around your face, and it promises to slough away dead skin cells and other debris without drying out the skin. Use these at the start of your skincare routine for better penetration from serums and moisturizers.
