The 3 Mini Skirt Styles Fashion People Are Wearing and Avoiding This Autumn
Is it ever not mini skirt season? Even in the harshest of weather, the fashion girls will endure a chill if it means they get to style their favourite item all year round.
An evergreen favourite, the mini is always in fashion, but certain shapes and cuts might fall in and out of favour as the seasons change.
Egged on by Miu Miu's infamous version from a few seasons ago, the pleated mini skirt is back at the top of our wish list, whist yesteryear's tube skirt has creeped out of vision.
Perfect for stying with knee high boots (an autumn essential) and a thick pair of tights, the mini skirt can take you long into autumn and winter with a fitted merino knit, but looks equally chic with an oversized jumper and extra layers if the weather requires.
Read on to discover which styles we're skipping (for now), and which styles we're into this autumn.
SKIPPING: WRAP SKIRTSWEARING: PLEATED SKIRTS
Style Notes: All of our favourite brands are coming out with their own chic version of the pleated mini. From fine pleats that sway with your step, to larger pleats that scream back-to-school, we're head over heels for every style.
Style Notes: Put tartan or plaids into the mix and you'll tick even more boxes for this preppy trend.
These large pleats will add subtle volume for a slightly flared silhouette.
SKIPPING: TUBE SKIRTSWEARING: SUIT SKIRT
Style Notes: Always here for a Clueless moment, the checked skirt suit will always be popular.
Style Notes: Autumn/winter is suiting season, and that extends to the skirt-set. When styled with a coordinating blazer, the mini levels up for a polished yet playful ensemble.
SKIPPING: SPARKLESWEARING: LEATHER
Style Notes: If there's one this autumn calls for, it's leather. Swap your cotton or linen our for this heavier fabric and pair with a chunky knit for an autumn-ready look.
Style Notes: Match your long-line jacket to your miniskirt hem for a seamless look.
Yes, it's faux leather, but just look at those buckles!
