The 2020 Met Gala Has Officially Been Postponed
It's official: The 2020 Met Gala has officially been postponed due to unfortunate developments and public concerns of the coronavirus. We have been waiting for final updates on the status of the event, as it is just a couple of months away, and today, we finally heard from Anna Wintour herself on the matter. Anna confirmed in a recent Vogue article that "due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, About Time, and the opening night gala, will not take place on the date scheduled." This means that for the first time, the first Monday in May will no longer be crowned with the best red carpet moments of the year.
Considering the fact that the Metropolitan Museum of Art closed its doors to the public just a few days ago, in addition to a handful of other notable New York City landmarks, this news does not come as a shock. In the meantime, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will "undertake a thorough cleaning and announce further steps early next week," according to a recent update published in The New York Times.
While we anxiously await the new date, take a look back at some of our favorite red carpet moments from past Met Galas.
