Meghan Markle Just Wore Something Kate Middleton Never Wears
From holding hands with fiancé Prince Harry in public to shaking hands with strangers and signing autographs to wearing her hair in messy buns, Meghan Markle does what she wants, to a certain degree. The latest example of this comes today, as she and Harry embarked on their first joint appearance in Scotland (Edinburgh, to be exact).
The bride-to-be embraced the country's culture via her black watch plaid (a traditional Scottish tartan, which you'll also see on the tiny horse mascot that greeted the pair) Burberry coat. She wore the coat over a Wolford turtleneck bodysuit and black trousers, but her handbag made us do a double-take because it's not something we're used to seeing on Kate Middleton or any other member of the royal family, for that matter: a crossbody bag.
Myka Meier, the founder of Beaumont Etiquette, recently told Good Housekeeping that "When the Duchess [Middleton] is at an event, she holds her bag in front of her in both hands when shaking hands might be awkward." Sneaky, right? But the always-outgoing Markle seems to be relishing in her newfound opportunity to bond with the people of the UK, so until further notice, she's going hands-free.
See her look (and pony twinning moment) and shop her crossbody bag of choice (from Edinburgh-based brand Strathberry) below.
On Meghan Markle: Burberry Double-Breasted Tartan Wool and Cashmere-Blend Coat ($2895); Strathberry East/West Mini Bag in Bottle Green ($545); Wolford Colorado Turtleneck Bodysuit ($250); Veronica Beard Adley Pants ($395)
