Update, April 9: Last week, Marc Jacobs’s now-famous Chipotle proposal went viral. So why did he decide to pop the question at the restaurant chain, of all places? Well, his reasoning actually makes sense. He explained his choice in a new interview with WWD: “It’s his favorite restaurant. We have an annual [tradition],” Jacobs said about his fiancé, Char Defrancesco. “I wanted to take him out for a romantic dinner on his birthday and he was like, ‘No, I want to go to Chipotle. So I knew I had to [propose] somewhere where he wouldn’t suspect that I was going to do that. And then I organized a flash mob to be there, but he didn’t know anything about that. So I was successful about that.” How can you argue with that logic?

Originally published on April 5: Congratulations are in order: Marc Jacobs is engaged to his boyfriend Char DeFrancesco. But it definitely wasn't your average proposal—the designer orchestrated a flash mob inside a Chipotle before getting down on one knee. Impressive, right?

Luckily, the whole thing was caught on camera, and Jacobs just shared the epic video on Instagram. (Trust us, you won't be disappointed.) So far, the likes of Pat McGrath and Carine Roitfeld have already shared their congratulations in his Instagram comments, and we expect plenty more industry heavyweights to follow suit. Scroll down to see his engagement video.

After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
