Women Who Can Have Anything Are Still Picking This Shoe Brand
What do Aimee Song, Meghan Markle, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Victoria Beckham, and Rihanna all have in common? Well, quite a few things actually. They’re all some of the most talked about names in their respective spheres (influencer, royal, model, designer, singer—you know, the usual), and when it comes to fashion, they all have the world at their feet. It’s worth noting that I chose that expression because in the case of today’s story, it takes on meaning both figuratively and literally.
How so? Well, despite all having endless options of what to wear—with designers willing to give, loan, and in some cases even pay them to sport pieces—and likely generous shopping budgets on top of that, these women share a proclivity for one shoe brand in particular. And if you haven’t guessed yet, the brand in question is none other than the iconic Manolo Blahnik.
Now, you’re probably wondering what the big deal is. After all, there are countless popular shoe brands out there, and we cover and shop them all the time. And I get it, but to me, this case is especially interesting because it’s not often that you have a soon-to-be princess, mega-blogger, model, and world-renowned performer (and more) all wearing the same brand regularly, even if it is such a famous one. In other words, the Manolo Blahnik girl doesn’t fit in one style type, demographic, or box, but a deeper dive into some of the choices within the brand does help to paint a bigger picture of why it’s so popular across the board.
From classic pumps literally fit for a princess to on-trend PVC sandals that rival the trendiest of versions, it’s the comprehensive umbrella of styles (all of which are perfected to a T) that make it the It girl’s choice time and again. To get a better idea of what I mean, simply continue on.
Rihanna
Back in 2014, Rihanna stuck strictly to the iconic two-strap Chaos sandals but has since branched out to other styles such as the PVC Scolto (also a frequent choice of Kim Kardashian West's) and even collaborated with the brand on her own collection.
Shop her shoe:
Aimee Song
Ever since Aimee Song posted about receiving these as a gift from her boyfriend, we’ve spotted her wearing them countless times, proving they’re not just pretty to look at but versatile too.
Shop her shoe:
Victoria Beckham
We’ll let the fact that the designer of a now-world-renowned label and fashion girl in her own right opts for the BB as her go-to pump style speak for itself.
Shop her shoe:
Giorgia Tordini
The street style star turned designer (whom we just happened to recently feature in our Spring Issue) is a regular wearer of the brand, and true to her style, she tends to opt for classic pieces that still make a statement. As seen above, her choice of an embellished slingback is trend-forward right now but will likely also never go out of style.
Shop her shoe:
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
The Estro, one of the brand’s newer styles that’s already gained the approval of everyone from Kim Kardashian West to her pal Chrissy Teigen to Miranda Kerr, is perfect for wearing with a dress or jeans (and lengthening your legs in the meantime) or under pants as a barely-there option as seen on Rosie.
Shop her shoe:
Evangelie Smyrniotaki
As one of the more editorially inclined content creators in the Instagram fashion set, Evangelie, also known by her handle @styleheroine, unsurprisingly opts for one of the brand’s most trend-forward PVC styles.
Shop her shoe:
Emily Ratajkowski
Emily Ratajkowski, or as we like to call her, @emrata, demonstrates just why statement accessories are so necessary for girls who love wearing jeans.
Shop her shoe:
Meghan Markle
Much like VB, Meghan Markle is an avid proponent of the classic BB. Unlike Beckham, however, Markle has strictly opted for neutral shades thus far, likely due to the nature of her soon-to-be royal duties. Navy, nude, and the above-pictured black are what’s currently in her rotation.
Shop her shoe:
Karlie Kloss
If you're looking to invest in something to pair with formal gowns, look no further than Karlie's Naro heels, which have an elegant feel we know will never go out of style.
Shop her shoe:
Caroline Daur
As another member of the million-followers-and-up club, Caroline Daur too could have her pick of all the shoes in the world, but (much like myself) she seems to favor the Fibiona mules, and can you blame her?
Shop her shoe:
Available in sizes 40 to 41 in black. Additional options available in alternate colorways. That's all for today! If you're still looking to shoe shop but want to spend less, we're always curating affordable finds for you here.
Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2024, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
