I Tried a Ton of New Madewell Basics—These Are the 8 Items I'll Be Living In
Welcome to The Great Try-On. With spring officially in full swing, it’s time to ready your wardrobe, and we’re here to provide a little shopping inspiration. We got to try on some of the best spring pieces from some of your favorite brands and documented it all from our at-home dressing rooms so that you can see how they actually look IRL. We hope that our photos and candid reviews will help you shop for spring wardrobe builders that you’ll wear over and over this season and beyond.
I’m a huge fan of elevated basics. As someone who doesn’t necessarily love to repeat an outfit, having a collection of basics I can style in different ways and mix and match with my statement pieces is key to having a smaller closet as well as endless outfit options. When I was looking to add to my basics collection, I turned to Madewell for some high-quality pieces I wanted to wear this spring. I tried on eight items, and if I’m being honest, I love every single one of them.
Madewell is known for super-flattering denim, so I had to try out the brand’s jeans. It also has collections of comfortable sets and cool sneakers, and I even scored the most adorable utility-style minidress.

Signature Coverall Dress
My Review: This coverall minidress has a utility feel to it that I really like. It’s casual enough to wear while running errands or to a weekday lunch but still looks stylish. I love the deep pockets on this dress, and the collared neckline takes the look up a notch. I paired it with thigh-high cowgirl boots and sunglasses. This dress may be my favorite of all of my picks.

Brightside Tee & The Perfect Vintage Crop Jean
My Review: I’m a sucker for an all-white outfit, and now that warm-weather fashion is here, it’s my time to shine. First, I have to talk about this tee. It’s one of the best fitted white tees I’ve ever had. I have worn it with a blazer, with my favorite jeans, and in this all-white look featured above. It’s super comfortable yet expensive looking at the same time. These white jeans are also quickly becoming a weekly wear for me. They’re so flattering, and the cut is exactly what I was looking for in white pants for spring and summer.

Court High-Top Sneakers
My Review: I’m not trying to say you need a good pair of white sneakers, but you need a good pair of white sneakers. They go with everything, and sneakers-with-dresses season is just around the corner. These high-top white sneakers from Madewell are comfortable and cool and are going to be the shoes I wear constantly.

Ribbed Cardigan Crop Tee & The Perfect Vintage Jean
My Review: This long-sleeve tee is cozy and classic. I think of this top as the perfect work-from-home throw-on piece. The square neckline is on-trend and sets this pick apart from other black long-sleeved knits. It works great with leggings and jeans, so it’s staying in the "keep” pile.
Okay, to be honest, I am way late on trying out Madewell jeans, and I have no clue what took me so long because I basically live in jeans. I love how flattering denim is and how I can dress it up or down. These Madewell jeans are one of my new favorites. They’re super comfortable, and I love the raw hem at the ankles. They have just the right amount of stretch, and I’m a big fan of this wash.

Mwl Betterterry Embroidered Set
My Review: One thing about me is I love a good set, and I mean love. It’s such an easy, comfy way to look good in glorified pajamas. I love the varsity style of the Madewell logo and the color choices, and the sweats are so comfortable I never want to take them off. I can already see myself wearing this set for travel on my next trip.

Spring is here, and a good pair of denim shorts is a must.
The type of one-piece I’d style as a bodysuit.
I’ll pair these with an oversize dress shirt and some sunnies.
I love a layered necklace. It’s the perfect final touch to any look.
I basically wear hoop earrings every day, and these ones are so cute and under $20.
