The 5 Flat Shoes We Saw Everyone Wearing At London Fashion Week

On a particularly warm September weekend the country's chicest editors, influencers and stylists filed into the capital for London Fashion Week. Up and down the city streets we took note of emerging and enduring trends, totting up which styles were sported by a rare few fans, and which had taken the fashion set by storm.

During the process, we spotted several flat shoe trends that have hit mass appeal amongst the stylish crowd, including some styles that had us doing double-takes.

From our editors first-hand recount, read on to discover the shoe styles that accumulated a hefty step-count this London Fashion Week.

1. SILVER BALLET FLATS

Style Notes: As the British weather changed from sunshine, to rain, to the heavy humidity this fashion week, the paved floor shone more consistently than the sky, as the London streets were illuminated by glistening silver shoes

The silver shoe trend has been bubbling up for many months now, and Arket's tempting version has made its way into the wardrobe of the most fashionable. Though its stock numbers are dwindling, other high-street and luxury retailers have options just has compelling, for any magpie shoppers out there.

Style Notes: As the summer weather seeps into September, so do the summer trends that captured our hearts earlier this year. Most notably of the bunch are the Alaia mesh flats and Alaia crystal flats that did the rounds on social media, swiftly selling out following their release. Fashion Week attendees seem to be some of the lucky few who purchased the pair when still a growing trend, and were able to flaunt them in abundance on London's streets this September.

Style Notes: Nothing signals the return of autumn like a chic, black loafer. Styled with or without crisp white socks, the loafer dominated London's street this fashion week, leaving editors with a comfortable, chic and stylish step.

4. SATIN BALLET FLATS

Style Notes: Move over leather ballet flats, this season the modest shoe is looking towards its roots. In satin, silk, and shimmering fabrics, the classic ballet flat is back, looking as dainty as ever. Often appearing with a traditional elasticised strap, these shoes have pirouetted their way into the zeitgeist, and the fashion set are truly on board.

Style Notes: Can't believe your eyes? Neither can we! The infamous Croc has seen its status shift from gardening shoe to FROW companion over the past few years. This past weekend, London's showgoers were quick to style up their favourite pair with flowy dresses, smart layers and playful outfits for a (dare I say) chic take on Croc styling.
