9 Items Every London Girls Are Already Embracing for Spring
How we spot emerging trends has changed over the last year. Before lockdown, we simply had to take a look around us as we walked the streets of the capital to see what the city's most stylish dwellers were wearing. Now, with many of said women working from home, we've had to concentrate our trend-spotting efforts on the social media ether. Thankfully, our favourite London-based influencers have risen to the challenge and have continued to present us with impressive outfits. So, with a new season on the fast approach, what will London's biggest spring fashion trends for 2021 be?
While it's evident that the London style set aren't quite ready to give up their loungewear and leggings just yet, we're starting to notice that they're incorporating incredibly chic pieces into their daily outfit posts. Trench coats are, unsurprisingly, back again for spring and are sure to come in handy when the heavens inevitably open on our daily walk. Statement collar blouses are still going strong as one of this season's key trends, and stacked, chunky loafers continue to be the shoe favourite amongst those in the know, replacing slippers the closer to spring we come. Throw in ultra-bright checks, breezy dresses, and the jeans set to dominate this season, and you've got the perfect trend-led capsule. Keep scrolling to see nine trends London girls are loving for spring.
1. TRENCH COAT
Style Notes: An essential in any stylish women's wardrobe, the classic trench coat remains the cover-up of choice for the style set in London. Use it to elevate your leggings and joggers.
2. BRIGHT CHECKS
Style Notes: Checks are a mainstay in our wardrobes year-round however, come spring, we always find ourselves gravitating to brighter iterations of the motif. And this year, there's no short supply of colourful checks.
3. CHUNKY LOAFERS
Style Notes: Anyone who has spent a day in London will tell you it's fast-paced, and that you need shoes that can keep up. Of course, you can always rely on trainers but, for a sleeker approach, we're seeing more and more urban types getting in on the chunky loafer trend.
4. LOOSE-FIT JEANS
Style Notes: If the thought of slipping back into your jeans is too arduous, you'll be pleased to hear that 2021's biggest denim trend so far is loose-fit jeans. Pay homage to the '90s and wear them with white vest tops and black leather shoes.
5. NAP DRESSES
Style Notes: The nap dress (yes, a dress you can nap in) became a sensation last summer, and you can count on the fact it'll be making a return for spring. Look for oversized or billowing silhouettes in cotton or linen.
6. SKIRT SETS
Style Notes: If tracksuits just aren't your thing, rest assured there's another co-ord look you can tap into this spring. We're noticing more and more matching skirt and top sets are landing in new-in sections.
7. LEATHER BLAZERS
Style Notes: While we're perhaps a few weeks away from being able to vacuum-pack our winter coats, a leather blazer will act as the perfect transitional jacket. Wear it with cashmere now, and with simple jersey tops come April.
8. COLLAR BLOUSES
Style Notes: The closer we edge to spring, the bigger the collars on blouses are becoming. Not that we're complaining. Although the trend kickstarted last year as an update to the classic white shirt, it has since evolved to include pretty floral prints, just in time for the new season.
9. KNOTTED BAGS
Style Notes: With the hope of being able to spend more time outdoors in the next couple of months, now's the ideal time to start thinking about upgrading your arm candy. Currently, London girls are toting bags with knitted straps; a micro trend that makes a big difference.
