The 5 Coat Trends London Girls Are Living In This Month

Nothing in your wardrobe has transformative power quite like a really good coat. The right coat doesn't just keep you warm over the next few months; it also impacts every one of your outfits. Now that it's full-blown coat season, every time I get on the Tube or have a stroll at lunch, I see a parade of rather fabulous jackets and coats. There are five styles, in particular, that I've noticed London fashion girls leaning on—and all of them are practical investments that will have a prized space on your coat rack for years and years.

If you want something smart and classic, then you simply can't beat a camel wool jacket or belted cashmere coat. Trending styles this year include flannel lumberjack-style boxy jackets (very Stranger Things) and upgraded trench coats with patchwork print detailing. Keep scrolling to see—and shop—the five coat trends taking over London this month.

1. Checked Flannel Jacket

Nineties-style flannel jackets in lumberjack checks were all over the high street this autumn, and they also layer nicely under oversize coats, meaning you can wear them in the coldest of weather.

2. Vinyl or Leather Coat

Vinyl trench coats have been a popular item in London for several years, and they have become a surprising outerwear classic.

3. Camel Coat

4. Chic Puffer Coats

Puffer coats have been very jazzy over the past few years. However, this year, Londoners are leaning toward a more minimal black down coat.

5. Interesting Trench Coat

This is hands down the trending coat of 2019. I see this checked patchwork ASOS trench every single day while moving around London. We can thank JW Anderson for starting this one.
