Lipstick Is a Big Part of My Autumn Personality—These Are the 5 Shades I'd Recommend

I'm currently writing this while looking out my window at the grey skies and windy weather. Yep, it seems that summer is coming to an end. While I'm sad to say goodbye to the sunshine, I'm very excited to get stuck in to all of the autumn and winter beauty trends. I've already started to see a shift on social media, with celebrities and influencers alike opting for warmer makeup looks and darker nail colours, and as a beauty editor, I've started to swap out my summer products for those autumn staples too. One thing in particular that I love to switch up every autumn is my lip colour.
To me, a lipstick is the easiest way to transition your makeup look into the new season. Because of this, I've been doing some research into what lipstick colours we can expect to see everywhere this season. I've been taking note of all the latest and upcoming launches, scrolling on Instagram to see what lip colours proved popular last autumn that are still in style today, and I even asked the Who What Wear UK team what shades they will be reaching for. So, without further ado, keep on scrolling to see the best lipstick colours for autumn...
The Best Lipstick Colours for Autumn
1. Burnt Peach
A lot of people reach for peach lipsticks in the spring and summer months, but in my opinion, a darker peach shade is the perfect transitional lipstick colour to wear as we start to move into autumn. I've been seeing more and more of these "burnt peach" hues, which are slightly deeper than your typical peach shade and feature more of a nude undertone.
So chic.

2. Brown Glaze
Thanks to Hailey Bieber, "glazed" lips are having a moment, and I love this slightly darker, brown hue for autumn.
"I’m a creature of comfort, so a brown glazed lip is my go-to combo year round," says Who What Wear UK affiliate manager, Jerrylyn Saguiped. "I find using a slightly darker brown lip liner is perfect to sharpen the edges slightly, but the look is definitely tied together with a clear gloss for a finish that can work day or night."

For a glossy finish, you can't go wrong with YSL's Loveshine Candy Glow Balm.
3. Bold Red
An autumnal, bold red lip will always be in style. Who What Wear UK shopping editor, Remy Farrell agrees. "As much as I love to experiment with different colours and finishes, I always come back to a true, classic red," she says. "Where the rest of my wardrobe changes daily, a bold, bright red lip is the constant that pulls everything together."
If you like a pop of colour, then this is definitely the autumn lipstick shade for you.

It doesn't get much chicer than a red Chanel lipstick.
4. Deep Plum
Another classic autumn choice is a deep plum colour. This shade looks so good with both a matte and a glossy finish, but to keep things modern I would opt for a high-shine gloss.
It's the perfect option for a night out this September.

Victoria Beckham's new Posh Balm is perfect for those of you who like a sheer, shiny finish.
5. Brown-Toned Nude
"I'm not usually one for brown-toned lipstick shades, however, Merit's Signature Lip lipstick in the shade Tiger is now my ride or die for autumn," says Who What Wear UK beauty editor, Eleanor Vousden.
You really can't go wrong with this shade, and with '90s beauty making a comeback this season, I just know that everyone will be opting for a brown-toned nude as soon as the weather gets a bit colder.
