Your High School Self Will Love the Sneakers Lena Dunham Designed

Lena Dunham is dipping her toes into the fashion world with her latest venture: sneakers. Yesterday the multi-hyphenate took to her publication Lenny Letter to inform the world of her sneaker drop with skate brand Lakai, but it's more than just a celebrity tying her name to a cute shoe design.

"I have many great passions in this life, but two stand out. The first is the creative empowerment of young women. The second is shoes: Dr. Martens in neon patent, burlesque-worthy bunny slippers, fuzzy Fenty Slides by Puma. That's my vice," she writes. The footwear aficionado adds, "So when Lakai Limited Footwear approached me about designing a custom sneaker, I knew exactly how to bring my two obsessions together: by using this shoe to celebrate bright and courageous girls all over the country."

The adorable high tops are a teenage dream, featuring a high-top silhouette in either pink and white and quirky hand-drawn illustrations by Lena's friend Joana Avillez of girls in action riding bikes and typing on computers. Lena announced that all the proceeds from the sales of the two designs will benefit Young Women Empowered (Y-WE), an organization she supports. "This sneaker is for the girls who play sports, make music, write poems, organize protests, build robots, make home movies, and so much more," she states.
