Reese Witherspoon Just Confirmed Legally Blonde 3 in the Best Possible Way
Update, June 7: Three days after news of a reboot broke, Reese Witherspoon herself has confirmed that Legally Blonde 3 is officially happening. Her announcement was short and sweet: "It's true… #LegallyBlonde3" she captioned her Instagram video, clad in a sparkling pink bikini. Could you think of a more Elle Woods way to confirm the news? Scroll down to see her new Instagram.
Originally published on June 4: Brace yourselves: Elle Woods is coming back to the big screen. As Deadline reports, the famously pink-clad lawyer will be revived 17 years after her memorable debut thanks to Reese Witherspoon, who is "near a deal" with MGM Studios for a Legally Blonde 3.
Deadline reports that in addition to Witherspoon, the same writers and producers of the 2001 film are already on board for the third installment. "The intention here is to make this more about female empowerment, a message that hits at a fortuitous time in the culture," Deadline writes of the third movie. "The feeling is to draw back in the audience that grew up with the original film and find a new global audience." Stay tuned as we learn more about the exciting news. In the meantime, scroll down for our favorite iconic outfits from the original film.
Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
