I'm a Fashion Stylist in NY—Here's How to Create 3 Cool Layered Looks for Winter
It's not always an easy feat to look and feel our most stylish in the throes of winter (bulky coats and dark, drab hues can become mundane pretty quickly). So to get us sartorially inspired for the frigid months ahead, I tapped into New York–based fashion stylist Ryan Gale, who is one of my absolute favorite fashion people to follow for her effortlessly cool style and the brilliantly creative ways she puts together an outfit. She loves mixing vintage finds with designer pieces and layering them to perfection.
To keep us looking chic this winter, I asked the fashion-forward Brooklyn-based stylist to show us three cool layered looks that are easy for us to recreate ourselves. Scroll below as she shares her tips and picks for staying warm, feeling comfortable, and looking cool in these Insta-worthy ensembles.

"This look is for commuting around the city. If I'm waiting for an Uber or a bus, I know I'll be comfortable in my sneakers. Layering is an essential way of dressing for brisk NYC winters. It's important to keep either your head, neck, or hands covered to keep warm. Here I'm sporting a bandana over my bouncy curls. I decided to layer with two jackets—a quilted liner underneath my warm fuzzy fur. My large suede tote is holding my Ipad and laptop—easy for sending emails while on the move."

"Here, I'm dressed for running errands around the neighborhood. I'm rocking my favorite sweatsuit in a non-traditional way: layered over my thigh-high boots. I chose to tuck in my hoodie to create a feminine cinched waist and I'm keeping warm in my fuzzy hat. My full-length floral coat adds a pop of sunshine to my winter layered look."

"I love a good coffee break at my favorite neighborhood shop, Sincerely Tommy. Their yummy Lavender lattes help to keep me warm, as do my turtleneck and Canadian tuxedo. I threw on my oversized corduroy blazer for an extra layer and a pop of color. My platform clogs add length to my wide-leg pants while my wooly hat is the statement piece to my overall look."
