Krys Marshall hates mornings. In fact, the actor, who stars in Apple TV+’s sci-fi drama For All Mankind, which has its highly anticipated third season premiering next month, said that she was so chronically tardy in college that her professors would tease that she’d somehow find a way to be late to her own funeral.
As she’s gotten older, Marshall has a newfound appreciation for her morning routine as a way to set the tone for the rest of her day. Keep scrolling to see daily wellness rituals that help to ground the actor when she's home in L.A.
7 A.M.
I’m up by 7 a.m. every day because since my husband is a real estate developer, his day begins at sunrise. Therefore, my day begins at sunrise! Luckily, before he departs, he usually makes a cup of hot lemon water and gives me a smooch, which isn’t a half-bad way to start the day.
I love to take a beat to either journal, meditate, or read. This morning, I’m reading, What Kind of Woman by Kate Baer.
Before I leave my bedroom, I'll make the bed. It's a ritual I stand by, no matter what. It signals to my body that sleepy time is done and deters me from wanting to slide back in and snooze.
7:30 A.M.
I love to start the day by making celery juice because it’s packed with antioxidants and aids in digestion, and the vitamin A in it helps to reduce wrinkles, acne scars, and dark spots from sun damage. I like to add fresh lemon juice from our Meyer lemon tree, which we’ve named Maurice.
7:45 A.M.
Next, I'll feed and play with my 13-year-old golden retriever, Duke, which may look like a chore, but it's a total act of self-care for me. I adore animals, and spending time with Duke is my happy place.
8 A.M.
Before heading to my workout class, I'll spend some time in my home office reading scripts, learning lines, and answering emails. This morning, I was prepping for a session with my accent coach, Kohli, who is the best in the business.
9 A.M.
Hot Power Yoga at Sweatheory is my sanctuary. My teacher, Ash Lanzotti, is so giving and encouraging, and there's never a sense of competition or ego in class. The studio gets up to 118°F, so even if you wanted to have an ego, you’d sweat it right out.
10 A.M.
After class, I like to wind down with an hour-long infrared sauna session. This is the perfect time to go analog with a good book.
11:15 A.M.
When I get home, I'll head straight to the shower. I’m obsessed with Innersense’s entire line of products, which is great for textured hair.
While my hair dries, I'll do my morning skincare routine. Right now, I’m really digging Augustinus Bader and Tata Harper products. I have combination skin, and both of these lines are so gentle and have really helped improve my overall texture and complexion.
I’ve recently been studying gua sha techniques and like to kill two birds with one stone by applying products at the same time as doing my facial-toning strokes.
12:15 P.M.
After I get ready, I'll head to lunch. I try to eat plant-based as much as I can, and Café Gratitude is one of my favorite spots.
4 P.M.
I love to visit galleries and museum exhibits a couple of times a month. Tonight, I'm checking out the Black American Portraits exhibit at LACMA. After that, I'm heading home for a quiet night in.
