Katie Holmes Just Wore a Classic French-Girl Look That's So Easy to Copy

The French phrase, "je ne sais quoi” directly translates to, "I don’t know what”. Often used to describe an elusive quality or a cool-girl essence, exactly what it is hard to pin down, but we know it when we see it, and Katie Holmes’ weekend styling is it. Holmes attended the 2023 US Open Tennis Championships in New York in a super-relaxed, super-chic cool-girl uniform: A chic vest top, blue jeans and black ballet flats.

The simple but effective look was elevated by a clever styling trick. Throwing a knitted polo jumper over her shoulders, Holmes embodied that je ne sais quoi essence whilst maintaining her put-together image. Styling her look with the season's favourite shoes—black ballet flats, she mastered that French ease on her outing in New York.

Katie Holmes wore a Miu Miu polo jumper over her shoulders, completing her look with blue, mid-rise jeans, black ballet flats, a brown leather bag and sunglasses.

Sticking with her decidedly French look, the actor styled her hair in loose waves and kept her makeup to a glowy minimum. A perfect demonstration that you don't always need to invest in new clothes to nail chic-girl styling, simply turn your attention to those that know how to bring the most out of a capsule wardrobe, à la Ms Holmes.
