The Capsule Wardrobe Items Fashion Girls Spend Money On

Sponsor Content Created With Joseph

When it comes to knowing the kind of items you should actually put some hard-earned cash aside for, we always think it's worth seeing what investments other fashion girls make. If you're the kind of shopper who values cost-per-wear over a faddy fast-fashion fix or you know your personal style mantras inside and out, you'll probably recognise the fact that trusty purchases don't necessarily mean boring ones.

So with the autumn season catching up with us all too fast (when did that long summer abruptly end?), we're looking to those women in the know and watching what they've put at the top of their shopping lists. (Hint: Long-adored British brand Joseph is their source for thoughtful, beautiful pieces to snap up now so that you can be damn pleased with yourself in five years' time.)

1. LUXE KNITS

There was a lot of talk around fashion week about where to buy quality stylish jumpers, and Joseph often came out on top. Lisa Aiken, Net-a-Porter's fashion director, is a fan of the brand, and wore its leather skirt and scarf-sweater hybrid in London. The truth is that cheap knitwear ages fast and washes poorly, so invest wisely.

2. TAILORED TROUSERS

There's nothing more flattering than a pair of trousers that fit you perfectly, which is why it's always worth spending a little extra to locate the right ones. Joseph's wide-leg pants are popular with the fashion crowd, but you'll find a plethora of styles from the brand too: straight cuts, barrel legs, pegs, flares, etc.

3. MIDI DRESSES

Simple midi dresses are actually quite hard to come by, and cheaper versions tend to riff on trends that can pass all too soon. That said, a classic shirt or fit-and-flare style in a neutral colour (or minimal pattern) is a wise investment you'll wear time and again.

4. SILK SHIRTS

Synthetic and/or starchier cotton blouses never quite sit in the same sassy way as a silk version. High-quality items tend to cling in the right places and flow in others, feel delightful to wear and look rather good with the aforementioned trousers.
