Being a working model is a fitness challenge in itself, but being a Victoria’s Secret Angel takes the career to a whole new level, and the fitness regimen involved with a job like that is one of an athlete. Jasmine Tookes and Josephine Skriver spent years modeling as Angels, and fitness has always been a big part of their lives. So together, they started JOJA, a premium line of activewear.

Having careers as models meant switching between activewear sets and brands constantly. "Josephine and I have been avid consumers of activewear for over a decade. We’ve tried various brands and often thought about small improvements that could make a big difference. It could be a different stitch, a more flattering pants shape, or something entirely new,” Tookes said. "We collected and analyzed activewear pieces, asking ourselves, ‘What would we do differently, and what could we bring that’s fresh to the market?’”

Regarding how their exercise routines have evolved over the years, Tookes said, "With modeling, running our business, and being new mothers, it can be quite challenging to find time for workouts. Our go-to routines often involve Pilates classes or quick 30-minute strength-training sessions a few times a week.” While motherhood and their careers may have changed the way they work out, fitness remains an important part of their lives, and they are creating activewear essentials that make working out that much more fun. After trying out the pieces from JOJA myself, I am certain that their experience in the activewear market has led to the creation of great clothing items. Curious to know more, I asked them which staples carried them through their career that they still wear now. Below, they shared the six standouts in their wardrobes.

"There are so many reasons why we love our Classic Sports Bra top, but the standout trait has to be the square neckline that perfectly enhances the shape of your chest. Plus, the straps sit at the perfect spot on your shoulders, and it makes everyone’s back look feminine and strong.” — Tookes

Sierra Mayhew was always destined to work in fashion, but she didn't know it at first. Growing up with no choice but to wear a rotation of school uniforms and activewear, her love for fashion really blossomed when she moved away for college and was able to finally define her very own personal style. Shortly thereafter, she interned at Elle magazine and instantly knew that editorial was for her. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she worked for ShopBazaar, contributing regularly to Bazaar.com, and finally made her way to Who What Wear, where she is an associate editor. When she’s not working, you can catch her always trying to catch a flight, trying the latest fitness craze in New York City, or exploring luxury vintage boutiques.
