7 Items That Will Make Your Basic Jeans Feel So 2024
Some things will never change. For this editor, it's my reliance on a good pair of jeans to make an outfit. Especially in the winter, I'm always pulling out the same three or four pairs to build outfits around, whether it to be go out with friends or head over to the office. When my best friend asked me the other day about some ways she can spice up her jeans to make them feel extra trendy and special at the start of the year, I immediately knew I had to loop her in on these trends.
Jeans and denim trends may come and go, but sometimes, playing with and styling your existing pairs proves to be even more fulfilling than simply buying new jeans. Below, browse seven trends that are proving to be 2024's heavy hitters, especially when it comes to wearing them with jeans. From cozy sweaters to stealth wealth–esque gloves, these can't-miss items should be at the top of your wish list.
Red Sweaters
Is there anything quite as chic as a plain red sweater? While the item made a speedy comeback in late 2023 as one of the It trends to covet, there's no sign the classy knit is slowing down its influence in 2024.
Shop red sweaters:
Micronet Tights
This controversial trend may scream '90s grunge to you, but it's slowly on the rise among the fashion set. Ever since Tory Burch showed fishnet tights on the runway during its F/W 2023 show, editors, influencers, and models alike have been spinning their own take on the classic hosiery staple.
Shop micronet tights:
Leather Gloves
Reminiscent of chic women who lunch or go to the opera, sleek leather gloves have been a subtle yet on-trend accessory to incorporate into your outfits if you want to look that much more put-together. The contrast of casual, slouchy denim and the sophisticated leather accessory looks incredibly effortless. Old money, who?
Shop leather gloves:
Maxi Coats
Is there a fashion person who doesn't own a maxi coat in 2024? I don't think so. The longline-coat trend has been going steady for the last few months, and given the extremely cold temperatures around the United States this winter, it's not time to shelve them just yet. Pair your favorite floor-dusting coat with some jeans for an easy yet classic outfit.
Shop maxi coats:
Brushed Knitwear
This is the year to play with textures and patterns. What better way to do so than reintroducing this editor's favorite type of sweater—a brushed wool-blend or mohair knit? Let the sweater do all the talking for this outfit, and pair it with your go-to lived-in denim.
Shop brushed knitwear:
Sleek Belts
If you're looking to make an outfit appear 10 times more expensive than it actually is, may I suggest a leather belt? Nothing says "I have my life together" quite like this classic accessory all of our editors swear by. Plus, it makes jeans look extra special and office-appropriate. Win-win!
Shop leather belts:
Bucket Bags
For 2024, slouchy "throw and go" bucket bags are in, and everything else is out. If you're looking for a casual, French-esque take on jeans, grab your favorite oversize tote or bucket bag to make it appear as if you're in a rush to head out the door while still, somehow, looking incredibly chic.
