The Jewelry Trend That's Going to Be Huge in 2017

Thanks to the S/S 17 runways, we know bold jewelry is coming back in a major way. While last year we focused more on delicate pieces, 2017 is no time to be shy. We’re talking statement earrings and layered necklaces that dance right along the line that divides the gaudy from the grand.
To help you hit the sartorial sweet spot, we’ve enlisted the help of Palm Beach–based blogger Stephanie Hill of The Style Bungalow, who reflects the playful nature of South Florida in her wardrobe—especially when it comes to jewelry. Hill proved to be the perfect person to look to for styling tips: She calls statement jewelry her personal trick for bringing an outfit to life.
If you tend to rely on minimalistic jewelry, Hill recognizes that going bold might require stepping outside of your comfort zone. "Statement jewelry commands attention,” she says, and there’s no way to pull off a bold look without confidence. Still on the fence? Never fear: Hill’s expert advice will ensure you feel comfortable incorporating one of the biggest accessory trends of the season into your wardrobe.
Keep reading to see how Hill worked statement jewelry from BaubleBar into three of her go-to outfits.
Off-Duty
As a blogger, Hill is living the off-duty dream, as she spends most of her time working from home or out of coffee shops. Even midweek, the majority of her outfits consist of denim and a band tee, so she relies on statement jewelry to elevate her looks. Hill embraces the busy feel of this choker-and–crystal bib necklace over her vintage tee, keeping it manageable with a toned-down color palette of blue, black, and gray. Her advice: "If you’re wearing a loud necklace, skip out on earrings,” a foolproof way to ensure you don’t overwhelm the look.
A Work Event
While Hill’s work outfits are more casual during the day, the industry events she attends in the evenings require something a bit more dressed up. "You always want to wear something a little inspired,” Hill tells us. Since Hill describes her personal style as leaning toward classic, she opts to dial up a button-down and a light knit sweater with a statement pair of pearl-like earrings. To make the earrings stand out even more, Hill suggests tying your hair up into a sleek topknot.
A Night Out
When it comes to Palm Beach party attire, Hill’s advice is simple: "With a colorful but basic dress, you can do pretty much anything with accessories.” The stripes of her earrings and the shine of the necklace provide contrast to a solid coral dress; the circular shapes bring together pieces that would otherwise clash.
