I'm Sorry, But We Made These Under-$40 Items Look Exceptionally Cute
While we may be physically stuck indoors (mostly) alone in our loungewear, mentally we're at the beach with our friends in a sundress sipping some kind of fruity cocktail. Since we can't control every element of the current situation, let's focus on the one we can: our wardrobes. We're certainly hopeful that we will soon be able to make the above daydream a reality, but until then, we're content with wearing our new summer buys at home.
Dressing up each day, no matter how casual our outfits may be, has helped us feel more productive, put-together, and overall happy during this time. A new top or dress has a way of putting a smile on our faces, especially if it's a lucky affordable find. Our team currently has found tons of them lately, many of which from our very own Who What Wear Collection. Each of these editor-selected pieces rings in under $35 and is simple enough to style at home. We bet you'll want to wear them all summer long.
"My honest-to-god style is really much more beachy and bohemian than I often let on. It made sense when I was living in Sydney, but the challenge over the years has been to translate that vibe to my professional life (and wardrobe) in New York. I like pieces that make me feel as though I'm finding a way to tidy up without necessarily growing up or otherwise deserting my personal style now that I spend time in an office (on a normal day, when there's not a pandemic). I always feel good in a Hawaiian shirt, and with its vintage-inspired floral print and slightly boxy, menswear-inspired shape, this top gives me that same vibe, only more tailored and put-together."

"Since working from home, my outfits have mostly consisted of sweatpants and basic tees, so that’s why I’m obsessed with this top. I still consider it a basic, but the small design details like the puffy sleeves and buttons down the back, make it feel like an elevated basic. But don’t get it twisted: I’m still in pants with an elastic waistband—they’re just velvet and cropped, which feels sophisticated and is definitely a step above my sweats. As for my shoes? They’re extremely comfy ballet flats that are basically slippers in my eyes. When the weather heats up and I'm allowed to be out and about again, I’m for sure going to style this top with my favorite denim skirt and sandals. It’s the perfect summer essential to have in your closet."

"It's a fact: I have a thing for midi dresses. They're the easiest way to look chic, without really having to put in too much effort. I've been throwing this one on when I want to get a little bit more dressed up for WFH. (The fabric still makes me feel super cozy.) And I know I'll wear it on repeat (hopefully soon!) to the office, on date nights, at happy hours—you name it."

"Puffy sleeves are one of my favorite trends this year, so I instantly gravitated toward this beige-gingham top. It always feels great to buy a trendy item at such an affordable price, too. I love the tight bodice and ruched fabric at the back, which makes it easy to tuck into a high-waisted skirt. I'll be wearing this top with midi skirts and balloon-leg denim when I'm back in the office."

"Although I really shouldn't ever be trusted with white tops. (I spilled bronzer on this one the first time I ever wore it.). They're my favorite come summertime. White ribbed tanks, puffy-sleeve blouses, lace camis, basic white tees—you name it; I want it. I love that this particular white top has pre-cuffed sleeves and button details that make it feel a bit more elevated than my usual everyday basics but still casual enough to wear with my go-to jeans and new croc-effect slide sandals. I also love that it's 100% cotton so I can get that makeup stain out easily in the laundry, but that's beside the point."
