We Just Ditched Low-Key Dressing for These OTT Looks
Sponsor Content Created With Kendra Scott
This holiday season, we're embracing maximalism in a major way by pulling out all the sartorial stops at every occasion we'll be RSVP'ing to. We're talking clashing prints, embellished shoes, and, of course, glamorous statement-making jewelry from Kendra Scott's holiday collection, all of which lean into the '70s vibe we saw take over the fall runways. Oversize hoops, layered necklaces, and glitzy drop earrings—yep, it's all here.
Dare to go out of your cocktail-party comfort zone? These bold, on-trend looks should do the trick… Just don't blame us when you win best dressed.
Afraid of a little glitz and glam? Not us—this season, we're leaning into anything that sparkles. Crystal chain earrings are fabulous alone, but pair them with a matching wrap necklace and we're really talking. This necklace gets bonus points for its versatility: Loop it around your neck to create a loose choker, wear it undone down your back (with an updo to draw eyes to the bling, of course), or even layer it under the lapel of a trench like you would a silk scarf.
Yes, our holiday jewelry picks are bold, but that doesn't mean we'll be keeping our outfits low-key. In fact, quite the opposite—we're going to town with an equally sparkly embellished midi skirt and platform heels that complement the accessories rather than tone them down. And while this cropped feather jacket feels like a lot, in reality, it's the perfect matte finish to make your sparkles really pop.
Erdem Fae Top ($1035), Sacha Skirt ($2140), and Ives Jacket ($2470); Topshop Glitter Welt Fishnet Ankle Sock ($10); Sophia Webster Platform Heels Black ($795).
It's no secret that we love a good layering moment, and this includes our jewelry. Instead of wearing just one necklace, we'll be stacking them up over our party looks—more truly is more, as far as we're concerned. For an elegant approach, select necklaces with the same metal and gemstone properties, but make sure they're different styles and lengths from one another.
Another one of our go-to party looks is a printed dress layered over athletic-inspired trousers (we love that retro yellow stripe), but we won't be stopping there for the holidays. We're loving all manner of kimonos, wraps, and pajama-style pieces, and this chic velvet robe makes for perfect outerwear. And as with your necklaces, make sure the lengths of your pieces are varied—each layer should have its moment. Finally, don't let your footwear mellow things out: Printed boots in a bold hue make for one last surprise south of the ankles.
ALC Kendall Dress ($795) and Holly Dress ($795); Givenchy Wool Track-Stripe Straight-Leg Trousers ($1500); Zara Embroidered Satin High Heel Ankle Boots ($80).
The starting point for this jewel-tone ensemble is the oversize cherry-drop earrings, because let's face it, we're all about making a statement right away. And since a cocktail party does not mean we're required to wear a cocktail dress, we'll be opting for a matching power suit instead (with just a touch of the '70s).
We love that this shimmery purple turtleneck has a pop of red at the cuff, so we'll be tszujing up our jacket sleeves to show it off. And don't think we'd leave the rest of our accessories out of the tonal game… On the contrary, a faux-fur stole in the same shades is just the over-the-top piece to finish this look and draw the eye back up from our platform shoes to those to-die-for earrings.
Alice + Olivia Edison Roll Cuff Tuxedo Blazer ($550) and Paulette Velvet Tuxedo Pants ($350); Missoni Turtleneck ($600); Gucci Velvet Slipper With Removable Platform ($1980).
If you're as eager to make a statement this holiday season as we are, you'll want to gear up your accessories ASAP. Luckily Kendra Scott has all of the bold jewelry we need this season, and it's just a click away.
