6 Trouser-and-Shoe Combinations Every Polished Dresser Uses in Winter
I don't know where this year has gone. It seems like just last week we had rounded up our autumn buys, and now our editors are busy compiling gift guides for the Christmas season. As we're coming to the final months of 2022, I looked back at the most important trends of the year, and none stood out as much as wide-leg trousers.
The oversized silhouette has taken hold of the fashion scene. From baggy jeans to puddle pants, so many micro-trends have resulted from the power of the wide-leg trouser. And with a new year on the horizon, there's no sign that this trend will be going anywhere. If you've already embraced wide-leg trousers into your wardrobe, you'll understand how versatile they truly are—perfect for wearing to work, evenings out and on weekends. Many wide-leg styles are tailored, adding an elevated feel to everyday looks. They style works seamlessly with so many tops, from relaxed T-shirts to sleek satin shirts. What's more, they also go with lots of shoes. We've seen throughout the warmer months that wide-leg styles look great with sandals and trainers alike, but with the party season ahead, I took it upon myself to prove that this trouser style looks particularly incredible (and expensive) when paired with heels, and I've brought proof.
Keep scrolling for six heel styles you can wear with wide-leg trousers and some of my favourite selects available to buy right now.
1. HEELED BOOTS
Boots are a big part of our autumn and winter wardrobes, and heeled boots add a dressy touch. If you're not comfortable in stilettos, a block heel will add comfort for all-day wear.
The brilliance of wide-leg trousers means you can get more wear out of your favourite knee-high boots underneath.
2. STRAPPY HEELS
There's an elegance to strappy heels that works for so many occasions. Dinner with friends? Yes. Office look? Yes. Cocktails out? For sure! Trip to the shops? It's your choice.
This pair nods back to the brand's signature Intrecciato weave.
3. MULES
There's an elegance to mules that can't be denied. The paired-back style from only having strapping over the front of the foot may seem be best celebrated with shorter hems, but there's no reason why you can't pair them with your wide-leg trousers.
Style with skirts, dresses, jeans, and of course, wide-leg trousers.
4. PLATFORMS
Platforms have made a real comeback in recent seasons but held a space in fashionable wardrobes for decades. This shoe will take your tailored trousers from boardroom to party.
A classic black pair you'll rewear for years to come.
5. CLASSIC PUMPS
Every wardrobe deserves a great pair of classic pumps, and of course, they look great with wide-leg trousers. A pointed toe is a nice detail to look for, as it will peep out the bottom of your trousers.
6. KITTEN HEELS
The kitten heel was outcast for a long time, but the elegant silhouette is seriously in demand right now. Add a little height and drama with one.
Immediately elevate your wide-leg trousers with these beauties.
