The Hogwarts House You Belong in, According to Your Style
I’m pretty enamored by the whole world that J.K. Rowling dreamed up and still remember staying up all night to read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when it first came out. I recently sat down to watch Harry Potter. Not just one movie, the entire eight films that span the series. After logging hours and nearly my entire weekend with my mind inside the walls of Hogwarts, I was taken back to the magic of it all.
I still think one of the most fascinating parts is right at the very beginning when all of the new students at Hogwarts sit down under the Sorting Hat to discover their house. And I’ve often been curious about which house I would be in myself. If you have wondered this yourself, I’ve created a guide to narrow in on which Hogwarts house you belong in, purely based on your personal style. Throughout each of the four houses, there are some character traits and personality types that stand out—which carry over to style choices. Ahead, find out which Hogwarts house you belong in based on your personal style.
Hufflepuff
According to Pottermore, "Hufflepuffs value hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play." Their outfits are fun and light and full of color with pastel shades. If you find yourself gravitating towards pretty, carefree pieces, Hufflepuff is your house.
Slytherin
Pottermore notes that "Slytherin produces more than its share of dark wizards but also turns out leaders who are proud, ambitious, and cunning." A Slytherin's closet certainly includes dark colors, angular silhouettes, and sleek vinyl. If you wear pieces that are more severe and have dark undertones, Slytherin is your house.
Ravenclaw
Pottermore explains that "Ravenclaws prize wit, learning, and wisdom." You're sure to find oversize Gucci reading glasses and other smart pieces in the closet of a Ravenclaw. If you agree that the whole "geek-chic" vibe is completely your thing, Ravenclaw is your house.
Gryffindor
Pottermore details that "Gryffindor is the house which most values the virtues of courage, bravery, and determination." Here is where fashion meets function. Pieces need to be comfortable and easy to move in—think sweaters for layering and block heels. If you dress in bold pieces that also allow you to be on the move, Griffindor is your house.
