Suddenly, Everyone's Carrying Handbags in These 6 Trending Colours
Narrowing down this year's biggest colour trends for handbags has been a difficult task. Why you may ask? Because the list of beautiful bags was so extensive. This season alone there has been something for everyone on the runway, from quiet luxury neutrals at Hermes to statement-making brights at Stella McCartney. But to come up with the ultimate list of handbag colour trends for 2023, I asked myself one big question: If I was investing in a new bag this season, which hue would I opt for? Truthfully, I would find it hard to choose. The huge variety of texture, size and style on top of the colour range seen on the catwalks has made creating this trend guide a tricky mission, but (spoiler alert) one I have succeeded in nonetheless. You're welcome...
If you're more of a classic girl, I would say you'll be inclined to look at the polished neutral and monochrome styles found in designer collections like The Row, Khaite or Saint Laurent. Keen to invest in a statement piece that will lift a neutral wardrobe? Your best bet would certainly be Coperni, Bottega Veneta or Fendi.
Ultimately, buying a bag is an investment. And even though this list comprises the hottest handbag colours for 2023, it's easy to be swept up in what's popular right now and forget about longevity and wearability. My advice? Whatever you opt for, buy what you absolutely love this season and not something you'll relegate to the back of your wardrobe.
I hope my edit of the 6 biggest handbag colour trends fr 2023 makes choosing your new favourite bag that little bit easier. Enjoy!
1. Quiet Luxury Neutrals
Style Notes: News just in: Muted tones are seriously having a moment. Not only are these toned-down colourways super easy to style, but they instantly make every outfit look chic. Instead of choosing classic shades like brown, cream or white, opt for the more niche tones like taupe, olive and ecru. Remember, neutrals don't have to equal boring. Invest in interesting textures and shapes to help add something different to your look.
SHOP THE TREND:
The shape of this Loewe bag makes it a super versatile and interesting piece. We're calling it: This will be the new It bag of the season.
This shape is so in at the moment and would look perfect paired with a classic trench.
2. Summer Black
Style Notes: We know you know, but if you don't, this YSL tote bag is totally dominating this season. It's been spotted on nearly all of the influencer-it crowd and has been near on impossible to bag (if you'll pardon the pun), just proving that black bags needn't be parked come the first day of spring.
SHOP THE TREND:
We're not sure if it's the adapted tote shape or the fact this bag reminds us of something Rachel Green would've kept her work folders in, but this bag is at the very top of our must have (in our dreams) summer 2023 picks.
3. Barbiecore's Older Sister: Tomato Red
Style Notes: I have to admit, despite my all time favourite colour being pink, there is just something about red. Red is like the stylish older sister who sips martinis, so it's only right that cool-girl brand Coperni produced their best-selling Swipe bag in red this year.
SHOP THE TREND:
This is such a gorgeous hue of red. Wear it as a crossbody, shoulder bag or belt bag.
4. Y2K Denim Blue
Style Notes: Rooted in nostalgia, if there's one thing we've learnt so far in 2023, it's that you can definitely never have enough denim. A point well proven by Audrey, as well as on SS23 runways thanks to designers like Altuzarra, Givenchy & Blumarine to name a few. Denim-blue bags are a great way to add another dimension to a basic look and are a staple we'll definitely be investing in this year.
SHOP THE TREND:
We've been lusting after the Jodie for a while now, but this is a very special take on the classic.
This bag would be so cute paired with a floral mini dress & white blazer for summer evenings.
This denim is giving us serious throwback vibes and we're so into it.
5. Disco Metallics
Style Notes: Let's be real for a sec, there's never really a time where metallics aren't in fashion. Be it whether you're finding the perfect sparkly addition to a black tie gown, or want to elevate some black jeans & a blazer for a Saturday night, disco-style bags are certainly the way to do it.
SHOP THE TREND:
You'll definitely be stopped multiple times by people desperate to know where your bag is from with this number.
Opting for metallics doesn't mean you have to choose sequins. This Stories piece is super cool.
A classic is a classic for a reason...This Paco Rabanne style will never age.
6. Crayola Brights
Style Notes: You've probably seen this trend all over your feed already, but the brighter the bag, the bolder the statement. From Jill Sander to Fendi, we spotted Crayola colours all across the designer landscape this season. It's almost like we're coming back to the revival of dopamine dressing again and truthfully, we're here for it.
SHOP THE TREND:
We're trying to decide which one we want more, this gorgeous green piece or the hot pink option.
The Marmont style is coming back in a really big way, watch out for it.
This shape is so interesting & the electric blue will certainly turn heads.
