This Will Be the Next Big Wedding Dress Trend
There's a lot that goes into pulling off the perfect wedding without a hitch, and finding the right dress is all part of the process. Grace Loves Lace is one of Australia's best kept bridal secrets. The label launched seven years ago when founder Megan Ziems was on the hunt for her own dress. Fast-forward to today, and she's helping women around the world find their perfect dress. And the best part? They're super affordable.
Ziems is an expert when it comes to unique wedding gowns, so we were excited to see her latest collection, and find out a little more about what styles brides are reaching for right now, and what trends we can expect next. Keep scrolling to find out.
WHO WHAT WEAR AUSTRALIA: What inspired this collection?
Megan Ziems: As with all new collections for Grace Loves Lace, I start with the woman first and foremost. Who is she, how does she live and what do we want her to feel in these gowns. For Elixir, I took inspiration from the modern European woman as our muse. From the Italian sirens to the fashion girls on the street in Paris. European women carry a confidence that we want all brides to feel when they wear a piece from the Elixir collection. That effortless glamour and passionate personality has led the way with each design for Elixir.
WWW: What style are brides gravitating towards right now?
MZ: I think the appreciation for quality has increased which is brilliant for us as we are all about making luxury wearable and accessible. Our collection is handmade in our studio and that personal made-to-order nature of GLL gowns is appealing to women who understand the difference. People are also appreciating the ethical side to manufacturing which is very important to us. In terms of style; Sleeves and backs are definitely taking priority for women at the moment, there is nothing more beautiful than a stunning back or elegant sleeve. The whole "make it your own" look is also huge for us this season and something we want to really encourage. We have introduced three new capes in the Elixir range that allow brides to personalise their looks.
WWW: What do you think will be the next big bridal dress trend?
MZ: The focus will be on interesting fabrics. Whether it’s lace, embroidery, netting, or silk bases. For Elixir we have experimented with unique combinations of fabrics and layering of laces to create a mesmerising 3D textured effect, willing even the most traditional of brides to step into a whole new realm of bridal. Creating the different looks through use of statement jewellery, headwear, capes and shoes is also going to be huge.
