Having reached the end of the award-show season, we thought we'd seen it all, but then arrived Florence Pugh on the Oscars red carpet wearing nothing other than short shorts and a flowing train.

This Valentino couture look is the kind of thing that lives in your head many months after fashion week has come to an end, so seeing it again on the elegant Pugh is quite the treat for the fashion lovers in the room.

Pugh definitely took notes during her recent trip to Paris Fashion Week, where she wore quite an ensemble of controversial outfits. This one starts with the silver-jewelry trend our editors are obsessing over, followed by statement-making puff sleeves, an award-winning train, and a pair of mini shorts to complete the look. Pugh confirmed that she was wearing shorts in an interview with E!'s Laverne Cox, and we were quite impressed.
